UPDATED WITH SAMPLES: SPIED-Want To Shoot Photos As Good As Ours? You'll Leica This Exclusive Video
There usually isn't a day that goes buy where we don't get complimented on our photo quality here at AutoSpies.com.

WE all know that even the best cameras can be dangerous weapons in the hands of the wrong photographers (for proof, look at our competitors photos) but even the best shooter will be limited with the wrong equipment.

So we are always testing and experimenting with new gear.

We use many different brands but Leica is always at the top of our list.

Just like with cars, the Germans make the world's best cameras.

So we were very excited when rumors started to fly that the successor the the D-Lux 4 (D-Lux 5) would be announced the day before the Photokina show in Cologne, Germany, this October.

And if you're a fan you know that Leica works closely with Panasonic on some of their digital products.

The D-Lux 5 will be no exception as the experts say it will be a re-badged Lumix LX-5, sporting the ever famous red Leica logobug..

So for fun we picked up an LX-5 today in LA and shot this fully unboxing video.

Keep checking back for our samples gallery soon but for now enjoy the video and you can view the full camera brochure by clicking the link below.

UPDATE: Check out the sample photos below of our long term review Lexus RX350 perusing Hollywood last night and this morning.

not that interesting of an article to post, this is more appropriate for a site like engadget.com not autospies... sorry agent001... let's keep this to car news not camera stuff

It does sort of apply to the "Spies" part of the website's name. You can ignore this article because there are some people who are interested - who would like a good camera to use during their roadtrips. I was a bit thrown off when I saw the word "Unbox" under my Youtube subscriptions.

Nice camera and Sammy's is the best but I come to Autospies, no pun intended, for my car porn. I have other sites for my electronic un-boxing porn.

I would suggest sticking to cars or go the next step forward and do a video giving us some pointers on shooting photos of cars. A segment on shooting photos with phone cameras would be awesome and you just might get a few extra shots.

I guess it is a good camera but why don't you use a real SLR camera like the canon 1D or the 5D.

Wait... isn't this just a fancy point and shoot? It doesn't look like it supports any nice lenses. I prefer my d90 :-/

Nice shot but focus and detail is a little soft for our tastes.

Coonsidering the foot traffic of thousands of people(time to shot so no one is in my picture) and no extra light source to project the best light on my subject or tripod it is an excellent picture. Your pictures are nice but you had time to set them up and set lighting to youre desire 001.

Au contraire...we never get to setup auto show stuff.

Look at fine detail in faces in imperfect light and a crowd milling around.

Not sure how your picture is so much better than my picture but a nice pic none the less. When I mentioned setup pictures I was referring to the pics posted on this article my I ask where they where taken?

"Just like with cars, the Germans make the world's best cameras."
Really??? I think the Italians, the Japanese, and well, some Americans would argue that this is an invalid statement. Certainly shows total bias, which is ok, as long as you are upfront about it.

"Certainly shows total bias"

Or it shows our OPINION.

Its the photographer, not the camera! I WISH I could take pictures of beautiful woman as well as 001 does.
What's the secret?

Actually, doesn't the LX5 has a less wide angle range than the LX3? (The LX3's wide angle range was perfect for car show shots huh?)

LX-5 is 24mm as well.

Has a longer zoom, 24-90mm.

Click on the brochure link in the article for full details.

Posting a picture in which the subject is overexposed is quite ironic, being that this article is supposed to be about taking professional pictures.

A little post processing is necessary in EVERY picture.

I have two Nikon SLRs (D40, D300S) so I would have to say the Japanese make the best cameras :)

Never ask an artist what equipment he uses, instead ask what is his vision and technique - because art is not in the brushes, but in the person who makes the brush strokes.
