Audi announces April sales figures

After a successful first quarter, Audi of America, Inc. continues its sales gains with a 2.9% increase for April 2006. Marking the second best April sales month in its history and the best since 2000, Audi sold a total of 7,412 vehicles. Vehicle sales in April 2005 totaled 7,202. Leading the sales gain for the month was the A4 with a total of 3,623, a 25.0% increase over last year. The A3 continues its strong momentum in the market with total sales of 746.

“Our core model lines – A3, A4, and A6 – continue to drive sales upwards,” said Johan de Nysschen, Executive Vice President of Audi of America. “With the advent of the ‘Year of Performance’ beginning in June with the all-new Audi Q7 performance SUV, followed by the RS 4 sport sedan, A4 and S4 Cabriolets, and our luxury sport sedans S6 and S8, we’re just at the beginning of a great year for Audi of America.”

Soon after I got my new '06 S4 I took it in to the shop to have a small, out popping dent fixed (factory flaw) and I was stuck with a friggin Jetta for 5 days. Rebadged VW? Nate, you have no idea what you're talking about and you're obviously not fortunate enough to be able to get behind the wheel of an S4, or you would know exactly what I'm talking about. The new VW's and Audi's have a few similarities in the dash board display and knobs, but that's where it ends. You can't even see the hood while you're driving a Jetta, which is one thing I found extremely annoying about that car. Next time I have to take my S4 in for routine service I'm going to demand at least an A4 loaner. Making me drive a Jetta was a low blow, though I apologise to any VW drivers I may have offended. If you got to drive an S4 you would not want to get back into your VW, I guarantee it.

Sorry to hear that you had to drive the Jetta, my dealer has always given me Audi loaners. Obviously our friend Nate owns a civic with a spoiler. What I find interesting is that the A3 seems to be making an impact. I feel this segment is growing.

I'm not at all surprised about the A3. It's a nice little car and you get a lot for the money. Exceptional quality AND good gas mileage. I'd prefer an A3 over a Passat any day. Yeah, my dealer really bummed me out with the Jetta. Their excuse was that their loaner fleet was small at the time and one of their A4 loaners had been totalled a few days earlier. Still, I have a feeling that if I had rolled into the dealer driving a A8 W12 they would have "found" one somewhere.

yeah youre right the audis and vws dont look alike anymore. except for that idiotic grill vws have to have because they are pretty much the same grills as on audis. engines are the same. transmissions the same. switch gear the same. you can throw in skoda and seats too. audi? not a luxury marque. you even get the same switchgear on lambos now. lame.
