World's First Diesel Hybrid Launched

World's First Diesel Hybrid Launched
We are now one step closer to hybrid electric diesels.

As many of you here know, the BMW Vision is a hybrid diesel but it's also not a production car.

Now Peugeot has introduced a full diesel hybrid, the 3008 HYbrid4.

(A full hybrid, as opposed to a mild hybrid, is one that can run on electric power as its sole source.)

The Peugeot won't be on the road until next year I suspect but it appears that they found a lower-cost way of integrating hybrid and diesel technology so that the buyer won't be paying a premium for hybrid AND a premium for diesel.

Great idea. I have been waiting for Toyota or Lexus to mate a diesel with a hybrid. Diesel does cost more than Premium. I would like to see the numbers.

Who really cares. Its not coming to the US anyways. If its black you send it back and if its white its alright. Emissions out the exhaust.

Diesel engine and electric motor have similar torque characteristic. No meaning to put together. The diesel and hybrid systems are costy, no meaning to put together.
What will happen, when the battery discharge? Is it any HV generator to charge the HV battery? On highway the discharged HV battery is going to work like electric brake system. Is'nt it?
Toyota has experience with diesel hybrids a long time:

They really know about the proper implementation of diesel-hybrids.
