Track Stats: Lexus LS 460 Sport Vs Hyundai Equus - Who Comes Out On Top?

Hyundai Equus vs Lexus LS 460. Ten, heck, five years ago, this would've been the start of some sort of gag comparison. "We pit the new Hyundai sedan against a Lexus we found in a river!" And the Lexus, still full of free river carp, would probably walk away with a solid victory.

But that was before the Genesis coupe took shot at the Mazdaspeed 3s and G37s of the world; before the Hyundai Sonata ran to third place in the midsize car sales race; and most importantly, before Hyundai launched the full-size, rear-drive, $60,000 Equus luxury sedan.

Congrats Hyundai!! I knew someone could show them that a Lexus isn't a luxury car!!

Its pointless comparing 2 obviously large luxury sedans' performance. Nobody buys these cars for their performance figures. Its basically informing us what we already know, that Hyundai is Lexus 15 years ago. Lexus is now below the Germans and above the Korean.

If by "nobody buys these cars for their performance" you specifically mean THESE TWO cars, fine. But if that was a generalization about big cars, period, then plenty of people buy 7-series', S-classes, A8's, and XJ's for their performance, and all of those are big cars too (bigger than either of these two in fact).

Lexus comes out on top. As they do with all comparison tests.

Oh really? Lexus has lost many, many comparisons.

I think Cadillac should study what Hyundai is doing. Good job Hyundai, lets hope the car is reliable and has good build quality.

Say what you will about Hyundai, at least they have the balls to do what acura, infiniti, and a few others are too cheap or too stupid to try--building a large, RWD flagship sedan to compete with the big boys.

Infiniti did try.

In fact Infiniti did it twice with the original M45 and the Q45s: both rwd with V-8 power.

They've built it but will people come? It's one thing to provide such a car, a different thing to make it successful... just ask Infiniti (Q45) and Volkswagen (Pheaton).

theres no way hyundai can compete lexus , both cars are not for performance. Hyundai is hopeless in all aspects besides looks , lexus just doesnt deliver in the performance sector, besides very poor braking system and disappointing grip on highways. Both are far far away from german tech

The next LS will be light years ahead of anything Hyundai will have out on the market.
