There Goes The Neighborhood, Does THIS Celebrity Purchase Help/Hurt The Brand?

There Goes The Neighborhood, Does THIS Celebrity Purchase Help/Hurt The Brand?
When you hear about Jersey Shore, you likely wince in pain. And if you're from New Jersey, you're probably tired of hearing "Are people from Jersey really like that?" By the way, the short answer is "no."

But like it or not Jersey Shore has become a cultural phenomenon and those guys are raking it in hand over fist. Did you know that the clown known as The Situation is supposedly going to pull in approximately $5 million smackers this year?

Clown he is not!

To keep this abridged, we don't want to be speaking about Jersey Shore all night, the guys from the show are showing their new found success through their respective purchases. For instance, The Situation is said to have picked up a Bentley Continental GT while Pauly D has been spotted sportin' a brand new Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

With that said, do you think this has Mercedes-Benz celebrating or cringing? Is this helping or hurting the storied, German brand?

The "Jersey Shore" kids are single-handedly saving the luxury car industry -- TMZ has learned DJ Pauly D just dropped a frickin' fortune on a brand spankin' new 2011 Mercedez-Benz S550...

Why?
Overpaid actors, wallstreet theives, CEO's of corrupt companies, The Real Housewives of NY,NJ,OC,DC and now Beverly Hills characters, and US Polticians, have been buying these cars forever. At least The Situation and Pauly have great taste. I personally would have waited for the new MB CLS coming out next year.

Most people that buy a MB don't watch Jersey Shores or know who these people are - they just don't care period - so it doesn't help/hurt the brand - it makes no difference

It would not say that at all. There is a lot of young money out there, as evidenced by this blog post. If Sadam Hussein, Hitler or countless other ruthless dictators & murders have not tarnished the image of luxury brands such as: BMW; MB; Bentley; etc., then why should the cast of Jersey Shore ruin the brand image of these makes?

I think that the most affected here is the people without class driving all of this cars, they extremetly show what they are.
Sometimes is ussually that we feel pitty for a beauty car with a very extravagant two tone color, loud music and this type of people driving it.

I am from New Jersey and no we are not like that....most of those losers are from New York or North North Jersey right next to New New York. Then they migrate to the Jersey Shore act like assholes and give Italians and people from my state a bad name all in good fun. Now they get to drive supercars as long as they don't get arrested like the umpalumpa named "Snookie" Who is apparently "too hot to go to jail!" According to her of course!!

if all the rappers driving Bentley's didn't hurt their image, I don't think some jackass from Jersey Shore driving one is going to either. It's a Bentley. People want them, period.

Sounds like jealousy to me. How can the "hip hop community" stop you from liking Bentleys? Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You can dislike the "community" if you like but seriously.

The company could care less, its another one for the sales numbers. As for the car, THAT is who is hurt. I feel bad for that vehicle.
