2011 Mazda BT50 First Detail
Mazda Motor Corporation will hold the global unveiling of the 2011 Mazda BT50 compact pickup truck at the 2010 Australian International Motor Show during a press conference on Friday, 15 October 2010. The all-new BT-50 will be center stage on the Mazda stand throughout the show.

The 2011 Mazda BT50 is presented as an “active lifestyle vehicle” that overturns the conventional image of a compact pickup truck with modern and refined styling.

The new model was developed from the ground up as a brand new type of vehicle. Besides great looks, strength and dependability, the all-new BT-50 provides the perfect solution for a wide range of customers who lead active lifestyles, including families, workers, and pleasure-seekers. The exterior design features crisp lines that owners will look on with pride; an imposing presence that indicates reliability; sculptured beauty like an athlete’s finely muscled body; and sporty and dynamic forms. By balancing all these elements, the athletic and individual design gives the all-new BT-50 a road presence that turns heads and makes it instantly recognizable as a Mazda.

The styling of the 2011 Mazda BT50 increases anticipation of the driving pleasure to come and represents a new direction in the compact pickup market. It is a global model that will also be sold in Europe.

Sounds interesting. Make it about the size of a Tacoma mk1, or smaller, and I'll buy it.

I agree, interesting. I wonder what this will share with the T6 Ranger (Thailand produced Ranger) that is scheduled to replace our current dinosaur in about 2 years.

Bet that it looks just like a 1986 B2000 pickup by the time that the corporate bean-counters get done with it.

Anyone remember what the GM Volt was supposed to look like vs the production design? Yep. You got the idea.

Because I live in Jamaica I am 100% sure that I will be seeing these on the streets here in a few weeks to a few months. I'll try to take some snapshots when they do hit the streets. We get all the small trucks here that you don't get there. Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi L200, Isuzu D-Max, Ford Ranger, and the current Mazda BT-50. All available with single, extended, and double cabs, gas and diesel engines, 2 and 4 wheel drive, auto and manual transmissions. Lovely stuff.

@ thstone: If you think the $41,000 that GM is asking for the Volt is high, if they kept the original Volt concept look that price would be significantly higher. You really don't understand what it takes to stamp certain curves into sheet metal, do you? It's not a simple task. Additionally, there is a reason why Prius, Insight, and yes Volt have a similar shape. Hatchbacks are more aerodynamic than notchbacks. Low drag means high mileage. That was seriously off topic but important to clarify.
