Audi Approves The 360HP TT-RS To Go On Sale In 2011
The hopes of American sports car enthusiasts will be realized. Audi announced today that it is bringing the 360-horsepower Audi TT RS coupe to the U.S. market by the third quarter of 2011.

The introduction of the Audi TT RS to the U.S. market has been under consideration for several months. To gauge consumer passion for the high-performance car, Audi launched an innovative survey on its Facebook tab. After more than 11,500 fans expressed their enthusiasm for the Audi TT RS in just one month, and the American automotive media praised its dynamics, Audi executives concluded the car’s time had come.

“With performance and agility rooted in Audi motorsports success, the TT RS is truly an emotional sports car,” explained Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. “That emotion became abundantly clear as we explored interest across the country.”

Audi has not yet determined pricing for the Audi TT RS and will continue to define features and options available to U.S. consumers. Only the coupe version of the TT RS will be available in the U.S.

The Audi TT RS headed for America will share key performance attributes of the models sold in Europe and elsewhere. The car will come with the same, award-winning 2.5-liter TFSI, five-cylinder engine that generates 360 horsepower. The turbocharged engine also produces an impressive 332 lb-ft of torque. It was developed exclusively for the Audi TT RS and won International Engine of the Year honors this summer in judging for its category by 71 automotive journalists. The 2.5T engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission and quattro® all-wheel drive to achieve a 0-60 mph time of 4.6 seconds. The lightweight body featuring Audi Space Frame ASF® aluminum construction produces a low drag coefficient of 0.32.

370Z Sport Touring, Z4 sDrive35iSaPOS, Porsche Cayman S, etc. and we all know who the winner around the track will be... unless this new TT-RS can dethrone it. I would love to spank this new chick mobile with my Z.

the funny thing is that, the ttrs would blow passed your z with ease, even the tts, with less horsepower is faster

bahaha there goes your credibility. where are you getting your info from? i'm talking about the 370 not the 350. would love to see which TT-S you're talking about because according to specs it isn't. the TT-RS will also be waaaay overpriced (seeing how the TT-S sells for $52,125). I'll be looking for some TT-RS when/if i find one.

frankly I'd get a Cayman S, 1-Series M, or Z4 35is over the TT-RS, if for no other reason than I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a TT not being driven by a woman. The TT is the sports car equivalent of a Lexus RX.

Why is it that the RS6 station wagon put out 220hp more then this "sports" car? I think it's so that their r8 will still be faster then it, and that is a shame.

It's a Porsche Cayman S Competitor but does not have as good handling dynamics. That said it's not bad and has been rated above the Nissan Z,BMW Z4 and Mercedes SLC. The engine is amazing and sounds amazing. That alone will generate sales!

yes when they do the refresh on the RS5 and if the RS4 both get the 4.0T engine that would be great or a high output 3.0T might also work

Nice but it will be overpriced, as with all Audis that actually perform. I'm guessing $60k-$65k.

THis car im sure will bring the TT one step closer to being a real sports car and I personally really like this car it sounds amazing, its small, it looks sharp, and has a good ride/handling mix according to reviews, along with good gas mileage, but the issue is that with the TTS starting at what the high 40s this car will easily start at probably high 50s and go into the 60s for a car that competes with the 370z, slk350,cayman s and Z4sdrive35i(still wondering why the name is so long). Cars that will probably start well below it while the Mercedes and BMW will be much more luxurious and the realistically the Z and Cayman S being the closest cars in concept. Either way my point is it will be overpriced but I have to admit I cant wait to drive one.....

The Z4 by far has a nicer interior than the TT who cares what someone with an obvious cares what you think about sitting in one......., not to mention my point in seperating those 2 was because the SLK and Z4 are more grand tourers by nature and lean more towards the luxury end of the performance luxury class. Which is why the Z4 doesnt come with textures plastic door arm rest and vinyl inserts with a few pieces of aluminum here and there...(luxury uh no)

Patrick, I have to say, Audi's interiors have been slipping a lot recently. A buddy of mine just got an Audi R8, a vehicle I think is gorgeous outside but had never been in before. After years of hearing how incredible Audi interiors are (and I was a huge fan of the previous generation A8 interior) I was expecting the incredible. And instead I was shocked at how low rent the interior was. The interior door pulls are exposed hard plastic, and there was more hard plastic everywhere. The dash was covered by a material of unknown origin, stitched to look like leather, but instead looked and felt like a sheet of thin rubber with a square pattern stamped into it. Like something you'd make a shoe bottom out of or make an all-weather trunk mat out of. The same material runs along the top of the doors. There was nothing upscale or ritzy about the interior of that car whatsoever, frankly it was a huge letdown. And that's their flagship model.

Every brand has their "thing". Magazines spew on and on about the "magic feel" of BMW's -- it's just "what you expect from the brand". Well, Audi gets the same thing from the press for the interiors. It makes me wonder frankly whether the writers even bother to get in the vehicles they're comparing anymore.

I disagree with the blanket statement that the Z4 has a nicer interior than the TT. It depends on what trim levels you are comparing (for example, the base trim in the Z4 30i looks pretty cheap to me -- I hate the giant piece of metal-colored plastic that makes up the entire passenger side of the dash on that model). The Z4 35i with wood or real aluminum trim is much nicer, though, and I will say that I think the Z4 with the Ivory White leather package is nicer than any TT interior I have seen. That's a pretty damn beautiful interior.

again Patrick your bias is crazy oyu talk what a base Z4 comes with...hmm lets see what a base TT comes with or any TT for that matter....a $15,000 cars chassis, a $18,000 cars engine, the electronics from that same $18,000 car the TTRS uses the base engine from the Jetta just tuned and turbocharged (hmmm i wonder if any aftermarket tuners already did that with the jetta), the handling dynamics of a sport compact the list goes on......further more your clearly just a liar as it would be impossible to literally own every brand in the past 5 years foolish foolish lol yet you wonder why everything and anything you write is laughable at best...the Z4 is based on a luxury car yet you quote prices as if the Z4 should cost the same as the TT yet surprisingly in some regards its cheaper....get some logic a brain and try again when you are worth even reading...
