Test Drive and Report: Lexus IS Convertibles (IS 250 C and IS 350 C)

One of the newest entries into the hardtop-convertible market is the Lexus IS Convertible. Available in two models, the IS 250 C with a 2.5-liter V-6 and the IS 350 C with a 3.5-liter V-6, the convertible shares the elegant design language of the Lexus IS four-door sedan with the addition of a rather unfortunate and bulbous rear end.

For two people and a small amount of luggage, this may be the ideal droptop cruiser.

Lexus mess this Lexus IS hardtop convertible big time. For example, when the top is on, from the front/side/back and 3/4 view, the top look akward and low. And not to mention the rear taillights.

Here are my ranking in this class:

1. Infiniti G37 coupe convertible
2. BMW 3-Series convertible
3. Lexus IS250/350

Lexus are you listening to your customer or customers? I want a nice, sleek, aggressive and great performance IS350 coupe.

I don't think I've ever seen a convertible that looks good with the top up, the whole point of a convertible is to have the top down so that's how it should be judged. And the Infiniti just looks like a Lexus SC

The Lexus though it looks odd and ackward top up or down the only Car in that lineup that doesnt look odd top up or down is the G37 the 3 series though I think is the best in this class looks great top down but with its somewhat squared off top up it looks odd better than the IS rising rear but still I think they could have integrated the desighn a bit better the G37 actually looks better with its top up as it still looks like a sports coupe.

Convertibles always look wrong to me, but would have to rank them as:

Infiniti
BMW
Audi
Lexus

I think the bmw looks good up and down. the IS is a bit hard to like, but they only did it because they wanted decent trunk space when the top is down. There is litereally no trunk space in the Infiniti. And well the audi is a soft top, so it should be ignored completely
