TEASED: Chrysler Shuns Sebring, Brings All-New 200 Into The Picture...Kind Of
Today, Chrysler had a flurry of announcements concerning the brand's new found turnaround.

With competition in the mid-size sedan category being steep, Chrysler has its work cut out for itself. The question is, will the all-new Chrysler 200 be able to best the well-liked Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Malibu?

If we can use the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee as a measuring stick, we're going to bet that the 200 will be WAY better than the outgoing Sebring, which is probably one of the most disappointing sedans -- ever.

What say you, Spies?

Do the teases actually have you yearning for more?

Chrysler's press release follows:

Chrysler Group LLC today announced details of the new 2011 Chrysler 200 mid-sized sedan. Offering consumers exceptional craftsmanship inside and out, a refined and spirited driving experience, innovative technology, an abundance of standard safety features and an extraordinary level of standard content, the 2011 Chrysler 200 is an exciting alternative for customers that want style and substance, all at a surprising value.

Virtually every system in the sedan is new or upgraded for 2011, giving the Chrysler 200 its own identity and space in the highly competitive mid-size sedan segment.

The Chrysler 200 gets a new powertrain lineup featuring the 2.4-liter I-4 World Gas Engine mated to either a four-speed or six-speed automatic transaxle, or the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine which produces 283 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transaxle; improved ride and handling tuning which includes stiffened body mounts and softer ride rate, improved suspension geometry with a raised roll center, a new rear sway bar, and new tires and an extensively upgraded treatment for the reduction of noise, vibration and harshness including acoustic laminated glass for the windshield and front door windows.

The new 2011 Chrysler 200 provides drivers a beautifully inspired sedan that doesn’t compromise safety or practicality and offers the best value in its class. The Chrysler 200 will be built at the Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Sterling Heights, Mich. and will arrive in dealerships in the fourth quarter 2010.

I still see that dreadful c-pillar action going on but the other pics look promising (especially when you factor in the new Ram, Grand Cherokee, Charger, and Durango pics)...

*crosses fingers*

Looks interesting from that angle, like they borrowed some Lincoln heritage. As long as the design is not boring, it should compete with the other makes.

Looks nice, but I'm not comfortable with the Sebring resemblances.

Tail-lights look a little Acura RL'ish.

Not a horrible front grill look. Much better than if it had the old logo. I like the new Aston Martin wings logo.

The pic of the rear leaves a bad taste of Sebring in my mouth. This car needs to be completely redone, not just restyled. One thing's for sure, the interior better be TOP-NOTCH if they expect to compete with the big-wigs.

Honestly, I think all mid-sizers should go the way of Sonata and only offer NA & Turbo 4-cylinder engines. There is no reason for such large V6 engines and crazy displacement. The only instance where i think the V6 is a better offering than the 4-cylinder is in the Camry's case, where the V4 doesnt really offer better real-world mileage than the V6 and at a huge disadvantage of power.

I think Chrysler really should have attempted to move this car upmarket a bit they really dont need 2 cars to compete with the same already crowded segment from the pics though it looks like this will be more a name change and a heavy refresh than a new car

In case no one has been following, this car is a re-fresh. Its suppose to carry the car on for 2011 and 2012. An "all-new" 200 is in the works, fyi...
