LEAKED! Dodge's 2011 Challenger To Actually CHALLENGE The Competition?
Thanks to a recent Chrysler dealer event, it appears that we have some new information surrounding Dodge's throwback, big-ass coupe. And, it is pretty serious if you like old-school driving with impressive power.

As mentioned below, Dodge brand CEO, Ralph Gilles, supposedly said that the new Challenger could break the four-second barrier when it comes to 0-60. Uh, what?

Mind you that's Cadillac CTS-V level of performance? But how? With only 475 ponies?

Some are speculating that Dodge may be giving its power ratings a conservative estimate, but 00R thinks that it may just be, to quote It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, "bullbird."

Can the 2011 Dodge Challenger step up to the plate?

What say you, Spies?

Freshly leaked documents from the recent Chrysler dealer event that showed off the new 2011 products seems to put the heated 6.4L Hemi horsepower numbers to rest.

Sortive.

Apparently during the presentation for the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8’s and limited 392 editions, Dodge brand CEO Ralph Gilles was quoted as saying the cars would hit 0-60 MPH in the 3-second zone, indicating an actual horsepower number much higher than 475...

This car looks good in pictures but Im really confused why anyone not wanting simply be seen would buy this over the Camaro and Mustang. It honestly on the road looks like a crossover vehicle it look as tall as one, its huge, its long, its way to wide, yet its interior is relatively small and surprisingly despite its overdone exterior dimensions its interior is incredibly boring and cheap looking......

@bmwdrvr

Valid points. But for whatever reason, this car is the king of "cool." The Challenger still has that certain cache that has already wore off with the new Camaro and the new Mustang has failed to obtain, in my opinion.

When you see a Challenger coming down the road it has presence. Camaros and Mustangs just lack that certain panache.

Plus, some people really dig that masculine, old-school driving feel that the Challenger has. Sure its interior in the 2009 I drove was weak but you don't buy a Challenger for that reason. You buy a Challenger because you can drive it in your workboots and you want to bang that pistol-grip shifter into gear, while making a ruckus.

That's the essence of the Challenger.

Sales numbers equates to votes and no im not biased like most on here it's just my OPINION that it is not the coolest muscle cae today and the sales numbers prove it.

Heck even General Washington drives one....lol.

No doubt it is the American king of bad-cool- very much in the vain of a Harley Davidson or the Z06/ZR-1.

But it's still cheapo and not much else. All image and no substance.

Now let someone like Foose trick out that interior and tweak the suspension and we'll talk........

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

Too little? Maybe. But what else can they do, really?

Too late? That's possible. As it seems with everything Chrysler has done it has been too late, recently. However, it seems that when they execute, it is done right the first time.

Example "A": 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Can the top of line Challenger even keep up with a base GTR? Doubt it.

the challenger is unlikely to achieve such a performance level. the engine the srt model will get will be the same as the one in the upcoming srt jeep cherokee, which is supposed to have just over 500hp. Even with that engine, the jeep will have faster acceleration numbers, just like the old srt jeep vs. the srt charger vs. the srt challenger vs. the srt 300c etc. what the challenger needs more than anything is a diet program. that alone will fix most of the car's performance shortcomings, with the exception of vague steering.

Lets also say that the car sits too high on it's perches. And while at it how about a "real" handling package. Saying this the body is very very attractive. The interior apparently was skimped on compared to the 300 and Charger series 2. The dash needs to be improved upon. The engine line up is a definately significant improvement. However it would be nice if they could offer a 6 speed for the new "Pentastar" 305 HP engine. So "yes" always a good thing to improve the "go" power but there is more that needs to be done to make the Challenger a more rounded drivers car.So next year lets see some weight reduction and some handling improvements.

bmwdrvr "you both insult the people that drive these things and support my point its a big napeolonic complex machine for those who need a car or truck to say hey im a big man look at me and look how big my car is...what a joke"

Again, more ad hominem posts...let me ask you something...when I returned from Viet Nam in 1970 I purchased a brand new 1970 Z-28...I am one guy who didn't have to prove how "big a guy" I was to ANYONE...they don't make wheel-barrows big enough to haul my balls around in, missy! Did it ever occur to you that that there are guys & gals who just like American muscle cars?

BTW, before you insult me, how many years of combat do you have under your belt, bimmer-boy?...That's what I thought...shezzzzzzzzzzzz

Do us all a favor and go find a Made in Germany forum and you can insult those who like you drive vehicles built by the Nazis and their offspring.

You are the only "joke" 'round here, bimmer-boy!
