PARIS MOTOR SHOW: Who Has The Best Interior? New 6-Series, Panamera, Jaguar XJ Or Audi A7/A8?
When some people car shop they only look at performance figures. It's all about going fast.

When some people car shop they only look at technology. It's all about iPod connections and navigation screens.

When some people car shop they only look at the interior. Hell, it's where I'll be 100 percent of the time.

For the folks that agree with the last statement, this is an ode to you.

When it comes to interiors, many have believed that Audi was the king. And for a period of time, they were. But it appears there has been a shift towards the quality of interiors and everyone has brought their "A" game.

We want to know:

When it comes to this year's 2010 Paris Motor Show, who is going to have the BEST interior? The Jaguar XJ? Porsche Panamera? Audi A7, A8? Or, will it be the all-new BMW 6-Series**

**Mind you, the BMW 6-Series is a concept vehicle

Here's the key: We want to know who has the best interior when it comes to MATERIALS and DESIGN.

Boom! Discuss...

I can finally say the NEW 6 series has stepped its interior game up. This interior looks 10 times better than the current model by far. This is a tough category for me because the VW group mostly produces great interiors which is why the Audi and the panamera may be nice interiors but looking at this NEW 6 interior to me its definitley in the top 2. I would say there is some stiff competition now that this is a reality. I cant make an honest judgement on this I would need to see all 4 or 5 interiors side by side to make a judgement.

It certainly stepped up finally, but don't you think it looks kinda, um, Mocha ice cream? Swirled. :)

I did say on another post that I liked this new 6er, but there's something that this car seems to be lacking...

imo, I really like the current 6-series' front. The concept above certainly has presence, but I feel that the current one is just utterly beautiful. (I've been on and off with the grille. When the 3-series lost that mustache on top of the kidneys, it was just ugly and lacking in dimension.)

I love the B&O speaker design on all the vehicles the stereo has been applied to. Wonder if it's real metal...

Nice. I love the Mark Levinson in my Lexus LX 470! It might not have as much wattage as the competitors' or as many speakers as the newest versions, but it's amazing nevertheless.

Btw, did you guys see the new Lotus Elite Concept?

The dimensions are similar to the current 6-series, and the designs show no signs of being built in a little shed.

I did see the Elite. I want to see its interior though. The engine seems to be a monster too. Spies need to get info on that instead of bending for beemer.

has this CONCEPT been confirmed to say that this is the new 6's interior???

if this is indeed the 6's interior...kudos to them, as they have finally stepped up and not offered an interior in line with economy cars

XJ interior is still my fav overall...Jaguars have always had impressive interiors, and the XJ is no different.

In all honesty I love the new 6 series but Im going to wait to place it no1 until I see which materials are production ready and which are concept. Otherwise I would have to say given the choices the Jaguar XJ really has the nicest interior its execution is brilliant its design very concept car like it looks like a car in the flying spurs price range inside and out. the A7s interior is nice but a bit bland and lacking in detail that ironically the A8 has way to much of to the point it looks busy.

1. Jaguar XJ
2. 6 Concept
3. Porsche Panamera
4. Audi A8
5. Audi A7

There all great interiors but I have to give it to BMW they have done a great update to there interior that is modern, clean and upscale!

Jag and Panamera hands down at they are truly unique. If it weren't for the big nav screen this would look like every other BMW. And why compare a possible concept interior to actual production cars?

Hard to judge with only pics of the new 6 :/

1) it's hard to compare without showing photos of the other interiors, and
2) even with photos of the other interiors there'd be no way to compare "quality of materials" and "fit and finish", since those have to be felt and experienced physically. I guarantee 100% of the people reading this thread have never been in at least two of the cars in question, and likely haven't been in ANY of the five. All photos are going to do is allow people to state their opinions on the interior layouts. But if you're going to ask people to compare interiors of cars they've never sat in, at least photos would be a helpful start.

Judging interiors of cars we've never seen before in real life from a bunch of press photos is STUPID. Press photos make every interior "look good". Nothing beats seeing the cabin in real life.

I refuse to comment.

The only opinions worth considering on this topic would be from those who have actually sat in all these vehicles and operated the controls. Based on that, I would say none of the opinions above are worth the time it takes to read them.

Thank god they got a Bang & Olfson Stereo the Harmon Kardon units had paper cones on the speakers. That's right PAPER!!

paper cones? You mean like 99.99% of speakers? Oh, the insanity! No worries, though, I'm sure the next speakers they use will have cones made from Unobtainium.

The more expensive the speaker the less paper involved. Do your homework sir...

LACMAN, most speakers have paper cones, even the upgraded systems in most cars. I am fully aware you can spend more to make them out of other materials, my point was he was expressing outrage at paper cones like it was beyond belief that a car would have them, when in fact that's what most have.

I have to say there are some rather cool materials now used in speakers. Bowers and Wilkins- the people who use Kevlar in their cones and do Jaguar's speakers- use platinum coated synthetic diamonds for the tweeter domes in their top-of-the-range speakers.

Interior looks much better but i'm not feeling that color scheme. I like dark leather, red wood grain or carbon fiber.

My opinion in order.
Best interior/Dash
1) Panamera
2) XJ
3) 6 series concept
4) Audi A7 and A8
While I like the way the 6 series concept flows into the center console the rest of it looks a tad busy for me. Also the light color palette (which may be different on production models is a bit of a turn off for a sporting GT car. Both the Porsche and the Jaguar have very impressive and classy interior dashes. As for Audi they have been number 1 in interiors for so long. However they are starting to get a little "long in the tooth". There has not really been much of a change in their interiors for years even as new models come out.Saying all this "Justacar" is correct. We are asked to voice an opinion on photographs only. Unless we had the opportunity to sit in each car it is very hard to get a true sense of the tactile feel of each interior. So I guess from the photography point of view "only" the Panamera and XJ are tops in my opinion.

They are all nice. Kudos to BMW for not continuing down the boring, button less interior route.

This is a giant leap ahead of the current 6 series interior but the Jaguar still bests them all followed by the Panamera. Everyone elses interior is good but just there.

...Oh, and on a side note, BMW needs to help Mercedes design their exterior rear-view mirrors. Those (6 concept) are VERY nice. Very detailed. I know im picking on something small but if you look at these on the new 6 and then look at the ones on the new CLS, you will see exactly what Im talking about...

I think you're confusing "ignoring" and "not seeing things that don't exist". They don't mean the same thing.

that's funny huu, the only thing I have to nitpick about this design is the awkward swoosh on the center console that reminds me of that also ugly swoosh in the rx.

I have a 2010 Lexus RX350 and the dash is awesome.

With the remote touch like in the LFA it gets rid of all the little buttons.

I just love it.

I saw a new white Jag XJ today inside on display in the Laguna Hills mall and the tan interior is really nice.
