So When You Buy That Electric Car, Should You Turn In Your
You know, I have to agree with Vince Vaughn here… electric cars are gay. Look at it from a car guys perspective.

Their performance is dismal, they’re whisper quiet, they have a macho factor of that is below that of a Volkswagen Beetle convertible and I can almost guarantee that if you show up to a date in one that you are NOT going to get laid.

Hell, I’ll even go as far as saying that if you’re a man and you go out and purchase an electric car then you should have every single one of your man privileges revoked immediately.

Well yes... if the electric car you purchased is like the leaf... no... if it's an electric car that is fun/looks nice? I'd think it's sooner to turn in your man card if you bought a prius, then if you bought a fisker karma or tesla model s.

Yes! The topic itself is humourous and was NOT created as a jab against gay people. The fact that gay people exist is completely irrelevant to subject matter at hand. Your have twisted the point of this article into something that offends you. I shall not change my opinion so you can feel like you've made the world a better place. haha, I'm not that generous to people like yourself! ;)

lol, that's not the only thing. "man-hood" as I define it is the opposite of what you would assume for being feminine. Are the vast majority of hulking behemoths in gyms men or women? They are men, although there are numerous hulking women... they aren't very feminine. I would also say that a keen interest/knowledge in automobiles is "manly" because it isn't a very feminine thing, sure there are lots of females who love cars, but the ones that actually know anything about cars are often times considered tom boyish, aka not feminine in that regard. I've formed my conclusions around what society in general accepts. Regardless, I find it humorous that you've taken what I have extrapolated on it into obscurity. Did you actually think I would agree with you? That I think muscles are totally the only sign for manhood? lol NO! but they are an indicator. hahaha, you should re register under a name called hypocrite!

Yes, I have stereotypes. Do you not have stereotypes? Is it illegal to have stereotype images in your head? Is it unethical to call a boyish girl a tom boy? Is it unethical to call a guy who sits in front of the computer all day playing games a nerd? You are deceiving yourself if you think life is better without stereotypes, or that you yourself don't hold them. Stereotyping is not a bad thing, it helps us easily generalize people and predict how they shall react without having to truly get to know them. Sure there will always be exceptions, but no one has ever said that stereotyping is an exact social mechanism in the first place.

sportsbike80, when a woman does things that are masculine, society (me included) view them as doing being less feminine in that regard. Why a guy does things that are feminine, society (me included) views them as being less masculine.

Again, answer my questions. I've currently answered every single one of your questions, and you have yet to answer one of mine. In case you forgot, here they all are again in short point form.

-How many times have you registered/been banned on this site before?
-you do realize we are both looking foolish for doing this right?
-How about your man card? has it been revoked?
-Do you not have stereotypes?
-Is it illegal to have stereotype images in your head?
-Is it unethical to call a boyish girl a tom boy?
-Is it unethical to call a guy who sits in front of the computer all day playing games a nerd?

also...
-So my stating that gays are more open and environmentally conscious is ignorant?
-And your inferring that gays have no performance, are whisper quiet, and have no macho factor is somehow enlightened?

I know why you're refusing to answer any of these questions. It's because you know your answer will make you look bad. I'm not afraid of my opinions, which is why I keep posting them. I re-invite you to answer all of these questions to prove me wrong.

you're dumb, never once have I said that giving up your man card is being gay. This is something that you have concocted and have assumed for your entire argument. If anything the whole guys who work out point was to show that even gay people can still do masculine things, you must be horribly stereotypical if you think that gay guys only do girl things and lesbians only do guy things lol. So why on earth would a girl that is interested in cars be a lesbian? Just because a guy does feminine things doesn't mean he is gay, and vice versa with women. Your offense to this supposed "outrage" is on par in my mind with religious people feeling morally superior, or feminists who believe that females are superior. I'm totally cool with gay people, and religious people, and women, I do however have a beef when people take offense to things that weren't meant to be offensive. It's almost as if people like you (religious/feminist/etc) actively search the internet for "inflammatory" headlines. So if we don't like something, we are supposed to walk away from it and allow the ignorance to go unchecked. That's not the America I know.

And really, what a ridiculous argument, saying that if we oppose bigotry, then we are bigots. Nobody really buys that b.s. argument anymore. Being sensitive and aware of others' ignorance is a civilized response. I can be intolerant of someone else's intolerance. If not, then any amount of ignorant, hateful speech should be allowed. Where's the limit. Oh yeah, mocking gays is still acceptable.

Equating something that does not match up to your maculine ideal to being "gay" is patently offensive. And immature. Much as any other stereotype is. Being said by a dolt in a movie is fine. On a site that professes to have some journalistic integrity (bah!!), it's unacceptable.

And don't try to hide behind Vince Vaughn's performance in a movie. It's a freakin movie. If I'm offended by it, I won't see it. More likely, Vince will come across as a moron, like usual, and the film will be mildly entertaiing. The problem is the first line of an article that reads, "You know, I have to agree with Vince Vaughn here… electric cars are gay." The article is not about Vince Vaughn, but about the author's bias.

I don't care if it's from another website. That doesn't excuse it either. I come here, not that website, to be informed and entertained, not offended.
