Has BMW Produced A Vision? Insider Hints At Reality
Usually forum chatter can be chalked up to a bunch of armchair quarterbacks that generally "know it all."

But when Scott speaks, you listen. That's if you're a BMW enthusiast and want an inside look into the future happenings at BMW.

According to the BMW insider, the car from "dontblogaboutthis" is going to be something that has never been seen before. Best news yet:

"The car goes and stops like it was promised it would over a year ago."

How?!

Talk about a tease...

BMW insider, Scott26 had this to say:

Many people try to comprehend what kind of concept this is?
They keep coming up with the wrong conclusion.

It is not a car that has competition, there never has been a car like this.
This is pure BMW which means it does not play catch up because others have high performance concepts BMW have no interest in.

It's a full working prototype using all of it's intended technology. battery power , 3 cylinder diesel etc...

- The car goes and stops like it was promised it would over a year ago.

It is no longer a Vision... This is reality. Welcome to Tomorrow.

They should throw a big campaign saying that motorsports are one of the greatest contributors to fuel efficiency in various forms, and the message should be obvious, not subtle. And then, they can go on saying that motorsports are what made BMWs... BMWs.

..........well put bmwM3

I like this it looks mean and from the vision concept it could be promising. I wonder if they are taking the Vision concept and making it into a coupe and calling it the NEW 8 series???????????? I would love to see that but i can only dream of them bring the 8 series back.

I wonder what audi is going to do now I guess their version of their vision concept is coming out too like they do everything else when BMW introduces a new model and yes BMW has been leading the way. I just hope this car is what I think it is.

If they could only WIN at motorsports then that message would mean something. They retired from F1 due to lack of competency, they only want DTM if rules are made to cater their needs because they can't compete otherwise, in ALMS they are mediocre, in other touring classes they compete against no major player, in 24LM they turned away the challenge from Audi in 1999 and chickened away. Really, what is there to show for?

To premeditate an attack on other premium sports cars only means exactly the opposite, there's nothing new here, just another competitor and me-too product. A marketing hype that is old trick and no one is buying it. This is like calling the SUV a Sport Activity Vehicle, or the minivan a Lifestyle Crossover Vehicle. You have to be blind to not see this. This is from a company that forever claimed independence, yet actively seeks leverage from others just like its competition, and a company that forever claimed the RWD is the sould of driving dynamics, yet it discards that mantra so fast in the face of potential profits from selling FWD that has anyone wondering what they are really all about, another bunch of posers like Toyota, the so-called reliability company that is nothing but... more like the lying deceiving company.

MeanVulcan you must be really threatened by BMW, you come across sounding like an insecure fool. How many comparison tests did the M3 dominate the RS5 in?

Front potentially looks kind of mean and that's good. Hopefully it's not another Aztek though...I mean X6...or has a rear end like the GT.

"is going to be something that has never been seen before." At least there is no over hype or reality in that statement. If there was anymore drool coming off this post I would have to clean my screen.

BMW isn't about racing anymore. Don't let them tell you anything else.

How so? They are in the world super bike championship, they are entering the world rally championship with mini, BMW competes in GT2 class endurance racing, and WTCC.

and they own a racing series called Formula BMW, which is a feeder series to F1.

With the exception of formula BMW, the rest are production car based racing. And Formula BMW doesn't really count since all the race cars are BMWs. They are racing against themselves (no competition).

I was talking about racing in which the cars are purpose built for racing, and other manufacturers (read competition) are involved. Like F1. And we all know that BMW didn’t fare too well against Competition while in F1.

Street car racing is OK I guess, but the street cars were already developed and don’t reflect any technology that was gathered from racing. It’s not like BMW raced the MINI’s etc…, found way to improve the speed/handling through racing, and then applied that to the next generation of production cars. BMW’s racing efforts don’t have anything to do with their street vehicles.

BMW was very successful in F1, no they didn't win the championship, but they finished runner up many times ahead of much larger factory efforts like Mclaren. They won quite a few races, and for a few seasons they were Michael Schumacher's (the most dominant F1 driver ever) main competition.

So you have to build a ground up race car to warrant any respect? 90 percent of motorsport is production based. So Porsche has no racing history? B/c all they do is race 911's? I dont think so. Alot of time and money goes into developing these race cars. The current M3's v8 was developed by the old M3 GTR racer car.

What company do you know of that has this amazing technology transfer you speak of? besides MAYBE Ferrari.

And BMW raced the s1000rr a year in advance of the bike hitting showrooms.

BMW only won one F1 race. Don't get me wrong BMW are nice cars but not all of their cars are racing derived (Same goes for Porsche). BMW and Porsche would like for everyone to think that that’s the case, but it simply isn’t true. And you don’t have to build a ground-up racer in order to gain respect. I wasn’t implying that. It’s just when they did build a ground-up vehicle for racing, they couldn’t really beat anyone. They were fast on a few racing weekends but didn’t have the consistently to be a front runner. And in regards to Porsches racing efforts? Doesn’t Porsche compete in LeMans with one–off racers?

And Oh yeah… The BMW Superbike is sweet, even though that bike hasn’t won any races yet. They got pole position but no wins as of yet IIRC.

You don't just enter a sport a start winning it takes time. BMW only had a full factory effort in F1 for 3 1/2 years, and 2 of the years were spend building up the factory and resources. All the teams that had won the sport in that period, had been in it for decades. Same with the Super bike they have only been racing it for 2 seasons now, against manufactures that have been in the sport for decades. They won lemans in 99 with a prototype.

"Don't get me wrong BMW are nice cars but not all of their cars are racing derived (Same goes for Porsche)."

What company has all of its models racing derived?

"What company has all of its models racing derived?"

- Gumpert, Ariel, Koenigsegg (not too sure about that one)
