Congress Alarmed By China's Proposed Technology For Access Policy
Michigan's senior member of Congress, John Dingell, said Wednesday he wants China to drop plans to force U.S. automakers to share electric vehicle technology. It comes days after the United Steelworkers filed a complaint, saying China illegally subsidizes its clean energy sector.
Also on Wednesday, Sen. Carl Levin, D-Detroit, urged a congressional commission to look at "actions China is taking to favor its domestic renewable energy technology sector and automotive parts counterfeiting."
"We should all be alarmed by China's attempts to dominate the renewable energy industry through measures that discriminate against foreign manufacturers," Levin said.

Remember the "Golden Rule": He who owns the gold, makes the rules.
It looks to me that China is the new world super power, and we don't like that :-( After decades of being the top dog and dictating to others how they will behave (check out how Hawaii became a state), we're pissed that we are now in a subservient position, and someone is dictating policy to us.
Yeah, it sucks. But it is what it is. What do we have that they want, and that they can't get anywhere else, that will secure our access to their enormous markets?

We (the US) are like crackheads addicted to cheap goods. No matter what the cost to our own well-being, we will do whatever it takes to keep the cheap goods flowing.
Who needs to blame China? We're our own worst enemy.

This is not an article about cars. It is all about politics.
I feel sad that from this article, we are keep disclosing our greediness and selfishness to the world. Being one of the greediness and selfishness nations in the world, US is making lots of profits from the other nations but at the same time, pointing fingers to the countries who product high quality but low cost products to us. Chinese OEM manufacturers only make USD$4 on every Ipod they make for Apple. Apple makes large profits by selling to us in a preimium price. At the same time, US government has rejected the Chinese companies to invest in US numerous times. It's really a big shame for us being the biggest liar, and being greedy and selfish.

cohwang, I'm pretty sure I was talking about a Chinese car company that appears to be on track which is why I chose it to be my avatar. I for one love my country. I don't agree with how everything is done, but if you choose to do nothing but bash the USA there are other forums for that.

Inline6. BYD started as a battery company. Your cell phone may be made by BYD weather it says sanyo or panasonic or whatever. The battery technology is superior. The car company is a failed company bought by BYD. Yes other manufacturers sell better quality cars. The fact is that they should and may partner with BYD. Warren Buffet has even invested because of the companies direction.

About time to not deal with China, we should build sweat shops out of the prison system, we have an army of workers sodomizing each other every day and getting stoned all day, not to mention the cost to the tax payer, we all work 8-10 hrs a day don't we? They would have to be treated very well of coarse.
