THUMBS UP or THUMBS DOWN: What's Your Take On MINI's Electric Scooters?

THUMBS UP or THUMBS DOWN: What's Your Take On MINI's Electric Scooters?
Known for its quirky automobiles from yore to present, MINI has created an eccentric brand image that captivated a group of loyalists. But, when you've sold a MINI to everyone that wanted one, what do you do next?

Expand the product line up.

As we see now, the company is going to unleash the Countryman SUV in 2011, the coupe and roadster projects are expected to arrive sometime in 2011.

But here's the curveball unveiled this week; scooters.

Designed by AutoSpies friend, Adrian van Hooydonk, it's definitely got that European flair and Vespa kinda look to it. Granted, it's a scooter so it's pretty not to look like that, right?

So, does an electric MINI scooter get two thumbs up or two thumbs down?

Mini has taken the wraps off of three designs for zippy electric scooters, the first two-wheel concept in the carmaker's history.

The zero-emission scooters come in three flavors: there is a two-seater model, a sportier, single-seat version, and a "British racing green," 1960s-inspired scooter based on the design ethos of the Mod era...

I could see this working out in fashion-conscious cities: New York, LA, Miami and San Francisco.

Scooters can cost more than a motorcycle so why still opt for a scooter then?

Who really cares about noise. A motorcycle is more efficient because of many times the power with only a half hit on economy over a bench with 2 wheels. I can get to 30mph just after I cross an intersection from a stop and all scooters do is hold up traffic. I think you are just too lazy to take the motorcycle course or scared of motorcycles.

Riding a scooter is like banging a fat chick. Could be a hell of a lot of fun but you don't want your friends catching you doing it....- somewhere off the internet.
