UAW President Admits To What We Knew All Along: They Failed To See The Writing On The Wall

UAW President Admits To What We Knew All Along: They Failed To See The Writing On The Wall
With the clarity of hindsight after a near-death experience, UAW President Bob King acknowledged that the union failed to anticipate demand for cleaner vehicles and the crippling cost of the jobs bank.

"I don't think we pushed hard enough for green vehicles early enough," King said. "I don't think we understood the competition well enough."

That is a different song from a union that fought long and hard, arm-in-arm with the Detroit Three CEOs, to reduce or weaken nearly all proposed increases in fuel economy standards over the last three decades.

The problem with the UAW is nearly all them are in a park at lunch time boozing it and smoking pot they bought from drug thugs that cut peoples heads, hands and feet off if they get in the way.

To hell with the UAW!

They did see the writing on the wall. They just didn't realise that the red paint it was written in was their own blood. The UAW wielded a tremendous amount of power back in the day. I mean, just look at the things that they got the Big Three to agree to. Arrogance was the undoing of the Big Three...as it is with every large, seemingly invincible force that seeks to dictate its own policies to the masses. Sound familiar? I shall be thoroughly flamed for that remark, but the truth is the truth. Seeing the writing on the wall is one thing, interpreting it and acting on it is yet another.

Thanks to the UAW, Detroit is now so bad off that Haiti is throwing them a benefit concert!

I'm no fan of modern-era unions in general, nor the UAW specifically. But keep in mind that it was the CEOs of the Big Three who chose to buy short-term labor peace by signing up to long-term obligations, to be borne by their successors, back in the 1960s and 70s. If one is looking for blame, there is plenty to spread around.

Unions like the UAW have overstayed their welcome.

Absolutely correct y'all and while we are at banishing and bashging all Unions in the U.S. of A why don't we insist that all transplant auto companies: Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, BMW, and Mercedes-that have unions in their home countries do away with all their unions?

Because they probably have a good arrangement, they don't booze or smoke pot during lunch breaks (or got caught doing it) and they have better quality assembled cars.

They don't get caught by the media? This isn't the first time the uaw has received this kind of attention.

With all the union bashing by a great majority who post, I have yet to see one rational explanation of why transplants auto manufacturer's unions are better than the 9 percent of unions still remaining in the U.S.

And do your research before you make the claim that those unions are some how "friendlier" to their corporate masters in their own home countries.
