Hahahaha! Now I can change my statement of "Sure, you can buy a BMW for $40,000. But your not really getting a BMW until you spend $50,000." (In reference to the cost of add-ons to make a luxury car...well...luxury)

BMW already had to introduce the 1-series not because of another niche vehicle, but they needed something to fill the space since the 3 moved up so much in pricing. Even then, they left an entire group out as they priced it well over the $30k mark. Add options and your 1-series is quickly at or above $40,000.

Cause more people are OK with having a car payment in excess of $1,000 a month when they can barely afford a rent or mortgage.
