Volvo planning to take on Bmw 1-Series and X1 with two new models
It appears that Volvo is planning to expand its lineup and is considering the addition of two models: a rival to the Bmw 1-Series by also on the X1 compact crossover.

The new sedan will be placed below the S40, according to Doug Speck, CEO of Volvo Cars of North America. Furthermore, the S40 will be phased out in the next two years due to the fact that it is too close in size to the 2011 S60 sedan.

Let's hope that Volvo does a lot more marketing for their new models. Where are the S60 ads on tv? They no longer are working with Ford's skimpy budget.

Volvo can't even take on Buick. What makes them think they can shoot for BMW.

I love the Volvo brand, but they need a better flagship. The little Volvos have a lot of status for a reasonable amount of money, and are great for big city dwellers . . . I want a tank for the highways like Volvo used to build. Also surely the brand could benefit from a couple of SUVs . . . maybe there's an opportunity for an Asian manufacturer to supply the underpinnings of a Volvo SUV.
