Steal Of A Deal? Infiniti Prices The IPL G Coupe Under $50K
Infiniti today announced U.S. pricing on the new 2011 Infiniti Performance Line G Coupe, which is set to go on sale December 10th at Infiniti retailers nationwide.

The IPL G Coupe is the first production vehicle in the new Infiniti Performance Line (IPL), which is designed to offer a new level of premium performance for Infiniti vehicles.  More than just focusing on engine power and acceleration, IPL redefines total vehicle performance – with unique driving attributes and exclusive exterior and interior features.

The IPL G Coupe builds on the foundation of the Infiniti G37 Coupe Journey rear-wheel drive model and adds extensive modifications throughout the vehicle, including unique exterior and interior treatments.  The IPL G Coupe's advanced VQ37HR 3.7-liter V6 engine generates 348 horsepower, an increase of 18 horsepower over the G37 Coupe.  In addition, the suspension, steering and exhaust systems have been specially tuned to provide unmatched driving exhilaration.

The Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP)* for the 2011 IPL G Coupe are:

IPL G Coupe
3.7-liter V6 / 7-speed automatic
$49,850 USD

IPL G Coupe 6MT
3.7-liter V6 / 6-speed manual
$47,950 USD

About the IPL G Coupe

The 2011 IPL G Coupe's unique exterior includes a dramatic front and rear bumper/fascia design with integrated fog lights and black finishers, sculpted side sills, rear spoiler and chrome exhaust tips.  Each part is shaped to accent the G Coupe's aggressively seductive styling.

Combined with the exclusive 19-inch IPL split 7-spoke graphite-finish wheels and low-profile W-rated Bridgestone Potenza RE050A performance tires, the IPL G Coupe projects a confident stance and road-ready attitude.  The IPL G Coupe is offered in just two exterior colors: Graphite Shadow and Malbec Black.

The IPL G Coupe interior is designed to harmonize with the exterior styling, offering two color treatments – Graphite and Monaco Red (red interior only available with the Malbec Black exterior and 7-speed automatic transmission).  All IPL G Coupe interiors include red-stitched leather-appointed front sport seats with manual thigh extension and driver's power torso and thigh support adjustment, red-stitched steering wheel, special Silk-Obi aluminum trim, and aluminum pedals and footrest.

The IPL G Coupe's advanced VQ37HR 3.7-liter V6 engine management system has been recalibrated through air-fuel mixture and ignition timing optimization, raising the maximum horsepower output point to 7,400 rpm (from 7,000 rpm).  To obtain a natural acceleration feel, the torque curve from low revs to the maximum torque point (5,200 rpm) was tuned for linearity.  As a result of both the exhaust system and engine management changes, the IPL G Coupe generates 348 horsepower, an increase of 18 horsepower over the G37 Coupe, and 276 lb-ft of torque (+6 lb-ft).

Other standard IPL G Coupe interior features include Infiniti Studio on Wheels by Bose® premium audio system, Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System, 9.3GB Music Box® Hard Drive, Infiniti Voice Recognition for audio navigation, memory system for driver's seat, steering wheel and outside mirrors, RearView Monitor, Rear Sonar and moonroof.

I was wondering how they plan to justify that price.

In my mind nothing looks more hideous than 1 series - a big eye midget.

Fair priced compared to 335is, considering it's a balanced upgrade, though 18 hp is not much. Well, once they go FI hp can be easily adjusted as needed for product positioning.

In my entirely subjective opinion, Infiniti comes up short in distinguishing it from the pack in some way. BMW has their performance. Porsche has their heritage and racing pedigree. Lexus has their perception of reliable luxury. So what does Infiniti have that makes us take notice?

Don't get me wrong! I think it's a good car. But there are so many other good cars available, I ask myself what makes this one noteworthy in some way, and I don't have an answer. If at least it was gorgeous (instead of just "okay"), then at least that would inspire passion in prospective buyers.

I would have to disagree I personally think this car looks rediculous and at almost $50,000 you would really have to be in love with this car to pay some $6,000 - $10,000 more just to have this package it seems like a waste. But Infiniti offers something that others makers dont just as Lexus is seen as reliable luxury brand, Infiniti is certainly the same perception but more performance oriented. Everyone knows if you want a sports car that blends premium features, reliability, a relatively low price and german rivaling dynamics you buy a G37.....Im not an Infiniti fan in the slighest but can least see what they offer that others dont lets be real

I don't like it either, reminds of a prior generation vacuum cleaner.
