STUD or DUD: Does Audi's Quattro Concept Do The Ur Quattro Justice?

STUD or DUD: Does Audi's Quattro Concept Do The Ur Quattro Justice?
To mark 30 years, Audi has put together something extra special for the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Looking awfully familiar to the eTron that made an appearance in Detroit, as well the car spied while getting lifted by a helicopter, the Audi Quattro Concept is certainly something to behold.

With a turbocharged, five cylinder motor slotted under the hood, the Quattro concept is said to produce 408 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. Although we have not been privy to how light the Quattro concept is, GTspirit reports that its power-to-weight ratio should be in line with the Audi R8 5.2 V10. Obviously, this means that the Quattro will boast plenty of power.

Ultimately, we want to know:

Does this modern take on the Sport Quattro/Ur Quattro do the original justice? Was this a good way to mark the 30th birthday?

Let us know in the comments below.

This year marks the 30th birthday of Audi’s now famous quattro all-wheel drive system. The short-wheelbase plastic-bodied extreme machine called the Sport Quattro or Ur Quattro serves as the source of inspiration for the Audi Quatto concept, which will be unveiled tomorrow at the 2010 Paris show...

Although I love the looks of the S5, and think the S4 only looks slightly above average, I've been kinda critical of how every Audi looks so similar. "Design language" is one thing, but a lack of design differentiation is another.

With that said though, I gotta say that this thing looks badass. Maybe I'm partial because the side view reminds me of my first car, a VR6 corrado. Actually, no. This concept just looks amazing. The only thing I'd change is the rear spoiler design

It reminds me of the Corrado as well. The grill is quite unattractive. But the rear looks like the money! The rear 3/4 shot is best. Viewed from the side is second best. Spoiler is too much but that is in relation to it being a concept. Overall I give it two thumbs up.

the more i look at it really does look a bit to much like a corrado in any case either vw or audi should get his car the corrado was really vws only vehicle that looked like a sports car in what years....., alot more sharp and aggressive than the sciroc was.

Like bentdeez , I, too like the A5 and thinkg the A4 is just a bit above average. But as far as this car goes, to "me* the front end is unattractive in a huge way. Profile slightly less so. Rear 3/4 view looks good to me, though. I'm not a fan of the Mitsubishi Evo's gaping grill, either.

I love it. I'm with bentdeez about the rear spoiler. Something that pops up automatically would be cool and would keep the clean lines.

Is it me or does the front 3/4 shot make the rear look CTS Coupe-ish? Overall...looks like it'd be a blast to drive!

Notice how the wheels are pushed out to the body edges, BMW style. Good for weight distribution. No more hanging the engine in front of the front axle.

One of the most unoriginal designs to come out of Audi in years, and that say alot.

The rear lights and the black around it remind me of the lambo LP560. Overall, not bad.

I like the design overall and really like the way Audi did the rear tail light area. I would like to see the rear of this concept incorporated int the other models. Too bad this rear end design was not used on the A7.

Front end is very bland. Very uninspired especially the grille is made much more uglier. Rest of the angles are fine though.

While the front grill is not my favorite "bland" is not a word I would use. It is definately not bland. But I would also say it is not beautiful either. It kind of reminds of the original recent Sirroco concept car with that big aping grill it had. This does not look as bad at all but Audi somtimes goes a little overboard with it's grills. I definately see Corrado in the side view and original Quattro at the rear.Overall an aggresive good looking car. If I were Audi I would replace the TT with this. For one it has the better AWD sytem on it.Further to me the TT has lost its distinctiveness with version 2. Version 1 was the better looker even though it did not drive as well. This car is is handsome, brutal, aggressive and the right size to replace the TT. So this version should be the TTRS equivalent and then make some lower priced, lower powered models. However stick to the 5 cylinder engine. To me this car really defines Audi. I'm sure Audi will not do it. However this car is exciting and individual. It does not step on any other models toes in the VW hirarchy.
