PARIS MOTOR SHOW: A Tale Of Two Audis, R8 GT & A7 Sportback
Audi is definitely living it up right now. For the past year it has made some significant strides from where the brand used to be and has been breaking its own records left and right.
Recently, however, it has come under scrutiny from members of the press about losing its mojo and how that will effect the company in the long-term.
But if you
really
want to get an idea of what this brand is capable, look no further than the R8 GT and A7 Sportback. Not only are these two vehicles polar opposites in their purpose, but in their looks as well. When the R8 rushed onto the scene, people were awestruck by its futuristic look -- a role in Iron Man added to its cache.
The A7 is a bit more controversial, though. Looking more akin to the highly debated BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo, it has a unique presence that some either love or hate. To 00R it seems like it is a happy medium between the extreme Porsche Panamera and the more rounded-off BMW 5GT.
What do you make of Audi's two extremes?

Put the R8 in something shiny. That matte gray paint looks like primer.

The spoiler of the R8 GT looks tacked on and, imho, destroys the clean lines of the car. I would have gone with a tasteful carbon fiber lip spoiler or dealt with the few extra pounds of a retractable spoiler to save the lines of the design.
