PARIS MOTOR SHOW: Has Audi's Design Team Proved They've Still "Got It" With Quattro Concept?

PARIS MOTOR SHOW: Has Audi's Design Team Proved They've Still
Now while you may have gotten a look at our studio shots of the Audi Quattro Concept yesterday, it's another story when you see it in person. I mean, just look at it.

Said to be inspired by the Sport Quattro/Ur Quattro, the 30th birthday celebratory gift is something to really behold -- particularly when you take note of the fine details.

For example, scroll down and look at the four-ringed carbon fiber Audi symbol. Something tells me there is one tortured soul in Germany that was given that -- what appears to be -- difficult task. Poor guy.

Overall, it appears that the car has taken the eTron Detroit Coupe Concept and expanded on it. Now that we've seen two concept cars based on the same design, how much longer until we see a REAL car that actually goes into production sportin' this same look?

New TT? New R4?

What do you think it's going to be?

One vote for "it's not my taste." Gaping holes and origami front end. Blocky profile. Pretty nice rear 3/4 and tail. It looks too much like they're trying too hard. I much prefer the lines of the A5. To *me*, the A5 (S5) is a winner, inside and out.

its a concept, its supposed be over the top, and way to convey future design themes. if does make it into production Im sure it will be toned down some wich is shame cause its absolutely gorgeous.it seems that Audi will become more boxy and less bubbly. And yes they still got it, but never really lost it

I dont think they ever really had it. Their design theme came to its culmination in the R8, for some reason the big grill fit the mid engine body shape. Their sedans are clean looking, but boring, and they all resemble each other.

As plain as the interior is, I like it. Sometimes you just don't need 500 buttons and techno lights to enjoy a car. The exterior could stand for some small changes but it's a concept, what did you expect?

Looks like the homely offspring of an A3 having unprotected sex with an EVO.

It's not a bad design, it's just too bland for Audi. The rear of the car, from the rear wheel wells back, seems just as unfinished as the rear of the Camaro.

I want to say this is a R4 pre-production, but this could also be something of a R3. Either way, it looks to have more usable room than the TT.

Love the idea/design, wheels and overall shape, don't like the over-the-top concept details. This could be a huge hit for Audi.

Craftsmanship and quality, a TEN.

Design sexiness/Hotness- a five.

However, the original ur Quattro wasn't sexy either so this design makes sense.

What would I rather see? A stripped ultra-lightweight Carbon-Fiber S5 with a similar interior to this........

How can you tell quality from looking at pictures? For all you know it has a cardboard cutout for an engine lol!

"However, the original ur Quattro wasn't sexy either so this design makes sense."

I think this is the key, however, this is based the Sport Quattro which was even less sexy than the ur Quattro. I mean, it was just a foreshortened ur Quattro for rally homologation, damned be the looks.

Some of the details they were obliged to capture (the angular hatchback rear, for example) are what gives this car its awkwardness. That said, they did a interesting job of interpreting the original (the instrument cluster and dash look just like the original) but I think the new corporate grill just doesn't lend itself well to the car's original proportions and angularity.

I wouldn't be embarrassed to drive it, though.

Have Audi designers still got it? Got what? the ability to 'design' the same car in 15 different sizes...? YES, it appears so.

yet ALL the media, industry, and sales speak otherwise. Feeling lonely?

from a side view, the A5 coupe + cts coupe = this quattro concept

change the front a bit...looks too much like a Mitsubishi. I would like to see more flare from the wheels like the ur quattro. Keep the lights, change the front shape. The rest is awesome. The more hate from the competition only means Audi is keeping with its sexy designs and styling leadership. Let the others drool.

Not a fan of the front, but side and rear aren't too bad. Nevertheless it would be awesome if this made production.
