PARIS MOTOR SHOW: BMW Has Been Doing Their Homework Is This Their Best Interior Yet?
BMW seems to be taking note that Audi has been one upping them for the last few years when it comes to interior design, and if these interior shots from thier 6 Series are any indication they are moving in the right direction.
If you take a good look over you will see they even went as far as to partner with Bang & Olufsen for the ultimate sound machine as well. Local show representatives were quick to point out the their B&O system was far superior to that of Audi's. LOL, wWould you expect them to say anything different?
Check out these shots from the show and tell us if this is the best interior yet from the Bavarian automaker.

For the most part, it *looks* pretty, and that's the most important thing for selling it to consumers. (Don't pay any attention to that much maligned iDrive, now in its fifth generation (depending on who you talk to, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IDrive) and still not being praised by the press, auto critics, or more than a handful of consumers)

The newest iDrive like the one in my 09 is awesome, light years ahead of the one in my 06. The reason that it is 'maligned' is that full functionality is gained by voice commands. This cannot be mastered in one day or even a couple which is how long a journalist typically has to test the car.
I hardly touch the iDrive controller instead I do it all by voice command. No issues here. It does everything I want it to.

The new iDrive is so easy to use. If you cannot figure it out in one minute, then you are simply electronically handicapped. My girlfriend figured it out in less than a minute and never asked me a question and she cant figure out her blackberry.
Most people who write reviews are old and wont accept new technology.

It looks overwrought to me. It seems like BMW is trying to escape the notion of the past that its interiors are cold, yet they're overcompensating by adding so many stylistic elements that it just looks busy and a bit like they're trying too hard to me.

And I bet you won't find this 'Melting Ice Cream' in Aston Martin.

It looks good the color scheme could be different but for the most part its 100 times better than any BMW interior i seen even better than the F10 5 series

As opposed to what audio company that is not a poser? Why do I have the feeling you are going to throw out M-L?

They should've picked B&W. That would be perfect.

Why would they follow Audi? Ive enver liked their interior. I have always preferred BMW's. Its simple, yet ergonomic for the driver.

The new 6's interior looks great, easily one of the best in the industry right now.

Everyone is soooooo naive.
Do you really think this interior will make it to production here in the U.S.?
No.
We will be stuck again with crappy Dakota leather unless you want to pay at least a $1500 dollar premium for Nappa.
BMW is perfectly capable of making jaw dropping interiors and selling them here.
They just don't want to.

Hey BMW, the Lexus RX called, it wants it's center console back. Oh, and so did the Ford F-150 King Ranch, it wants it's leather combination back. Hahaha.

I like how the wood in the interior is not over done like in the competition. Not everyone wants a forest in their car.

The problem for me is the color choice of platic and leather. It looks a little out there for me. I like 2 tone designs but this is too busy and the colors don't work for me.They need to go darker. Frankly with all the shapes a monotone would work better. Ferrari,Maserati do a lot of 2 tone dashes. However theirs are more tastful then this. I also like the dashes on the Alfa Brera/159 way better then this.

They follow Audi with a new interior where Audi still leads, and they admit-by signing B&O to do their sound systems as well that Audi is the leader. BMWs answer to Audis gorgeous LED eyebrows? put LEDs on the BMW halos...what a lack of creativity and demonstration of me-too attitude. This from a company that only recently claimed RWD was their lifeblood, but succumb to FWD for profits. A company that claimed to be independent yet seeks partnerships left and right to obtain the same cost benefits as its competitors.
Perhaps BMW should move their HQ to Beijing "Copy Capital of the World"
