The BMW 1M Reveals A Little Bit Of Its Butt
In the BMW community, probably one of the most-talked about unveils for 2010 has been the 1M. Although we finally know the car exists, and thanks to Scott26, we have some details,
As you can see, BMW has unveiled a little bit of the 1M's backside. With this visible chunk we can see that there is a diffuser and a vent behind the rear wheel. Definitely very aggressive styling changes compared to previous M's, some of which mostly go unnoticed to the naked eye.
Keeping in mind that this new, aggressive styling is making its first appearance on the 1M,
do you believe this is the right direction for BMW's M GmbH?

They need to restyle the entire 1 series range. It looks quite outdated and also quite childish. I'm not sure what the M styling will do but I can't imagine that it would win any beauty contests.

It's not childish. Just short and fat.

say what you want, this car will be amazing and a pure joy for driving enthusiasts..
i just wish they would put in the DCT tranny.. they are saying its going to be 6 speed only to keep it for the purists, i think thats only a half truth... i think they dont want to put in a DCT cause they are worried the numbers will be better than the M3, lol

Well, that would be all fine and dandy for people who do not know how to drive, but if you go in to a BMW showroom and use their kiosk, there is a video of 5 professional BMW drivers that race the new M3 against each other and only one guy chose the 6-speed. Guess who had the fastest lap time? Thats right, the 6-speed guy.
DCT if for people who do not know how to drive.

Does anyone know if this thing is going to have a true LSD or will it still come with the electronic one?

Previous photos of this car's underside showed an LSD cooler.

Why do I have the feeling that this car is going to cost just as much as a M3?
I could easily see BMW charging $50k - $60k for this vehicle and using a limited production run as the justification for the price.

135 MSRP = $36,350
M3 MSRP = $58,400
1M MSRP ~=$45,000
