Audi Prepares To Move Quattro Concept Into Production

Audi is working on an engineering plan that will allow it to turn its spectacular Paris show-stopping Quattro Concept into a production vehicle.

A dedicated team of engineers at Audi’s headquarters in Ingolstadt is advancing plans that, if approved, will see the evocatively styled coupé assembled in limited numbers on a dedicated line at the company’s newly acquired sister firm, ItalDesign, near Milan.

Describing the new two-door as more than just a one-off show car, Stefan Reil, head of development at Audi’s Quattro Gmbh division, confirmed plans for a limited production run were fairly advanced. “We are rethinking standard processes to make it possible,” he said. “We know how to engineer it already.”

I hope it's "in addition to" the existing product line, and not the new styling direction across the line. This could well be Audi's version of the Bangle Era with their own interpretation of "Flame Surface Styling Language."

Nice, not too big, not too small - just right. Wheels pushed to corners BMW style should improve handling. And good looking too.

It will be overpriced.

That's the truly sad part. Expect Audi A5 prices plus market price adjustment of at least $5k.

I don't think it will be overpriced for all of us. These Audi's are expensive. We have have Lexus for the price conscious.

@LexSucks

You're 100% correct. Audi will price this car, if it makes it to production, $5,000 - $7,000 to high because of the chrome rings on the hood of the car.

I'm going to focus on the positive: There could be a VW Corrado replacement in this vehicle!

I'm going to focus on the positive and hope they price it high enough so that not everyone can afford it.

All of Audi cars are overprice and underpower except the Audi R8 sportscar. And that is the only car I am considering if I was going to buy an Audi, an Audi R8 V10 white with black panel = )

The Infiniti G37, BMW 335i, Lexus IS and I belief even Acura TL has more horse power than the Audi A5. And the BMW 335i is just as fast as the Audi S5 (maybe a 0.1 slower but cost way less.)

Your right-Lexus. If all I could afford is a Lexus. I would agree.

It's one thing to not like a brand it's a whole other thing to be blasphemous and down right lie. Audi's are not inherently over priced in fact for the most part they are priced right. You take equally equipped 328i sedan and A4 2.0T and the BMW will be more money with less equipment. I know this as I work for a dealer group that carries both brands. Now, while I will admit the S5 which is squarely aimed at the 335is coupe is about $3000.00 less than the S5 comparably equipped it's not as isane as some are trying to make it seem. Be objective and stick to the facts. I happen to be a fan of both brands but I for one keep it real. It's also interesting how some wanna bash the power comparisson of the A5 2.0T to it's counter parts but even when compared to most V6's it holds it's own and in some cases out performed it's V6 counter parts. Now enough of that, back to the Quattro Concept, I hope it comes and looks really close to this if not exactly. I vote yes!
