VIDEO REVIEW: One of the most boring Audi's in years-

Audi S6- All steak, no sizzle

The S series is meant for people who want performance and elegant design. Of course it doesn't have to many badges or tacked on body kits. Otherwise, it would look like a boy racer Civic. Those LED daylight driving lights look great. 155 miles per hour on a wet road. That's Quattro all wheel drive for you.
Watch the video it's pretty good, the acceleration isn't bad either.

Go find a car in which you can drive 155 m.p.h on wet pavement. I bet you didn't even watch the video. By the way, the engine is basically from Lamborgini, except adapted to a sedan and FSI added. Again, Audis are not for people who want to stand out, if you want to do that, get yourself a Civic, add some "performance" body kit and standout like a sore thumb. Watch the video before speaking.

"Go find a car in which you can drive 155 m.p.h on wet pavement"

I can give you plenty......starting with the most affordable.

Any Subaru....

And a Passat 3.6 4Motion to boot.

All Wheel Drive used to be an exclusive option on Audis.

Now many many others offer it. Its not so special anymore.

Audi needs to start focusing on quality because their reliability stinks, and now theyre canceling free maintenance for good.

After owning 2......I know I'll NEVER buy one again. My ownership experiences were the worst Ive ever had with any cars. Both and I repeat both of mine just fell to pieces. Literally.

Nice cars to look at and sit in....but a pain in the as* to drive and own.

I agree a little, only on the Subaru issue.Even i will take the SYMMETRICAL AWD OF SUBARU OVER ANY QUATTRO.

Want to buy a perfect AWD Saloon that is even affordable(value for money)
Subaru is the first choice.

And natefate i am not getting which model years Audi's u drove in the past.BTW Audi's reliability is fairly good than any other Germans today.

Design:I also don't like their new big nose V grille, even VW is adopting the same style.I loved their last A6,but the new one is offcourse no better than it's competitors.

which subaru would you drive 155 in the rain? sounds kinda frightening. just because a snot nosed brit says it;s one of the most boring designs this year doesn't mean squat. if this design is boring then so is every other sedan out there. subaru cant touch the class of audi with a six foot pole. yaaaawwn? why bother looking at this site then.

Wow! what a nice car. Driving at 155mph in the rain and feeling comfortable and safe is not possible in anything but an Audi.

Sorry, Saabaru lovers but the Subaru may have the speed but it certainly does not feel in control at 155mph. If you want a cheap transportation vehicle with plenty of plastic and you want to call it the "Best Value" to make yourself feel better than go ahead and drive one, this is a free country last I checked. Audis cost more because they are the real thing, no compromises, sport, tech, handling, luxury, class, style, quality, etc, etc. Audi buyers typically do not need to worry about penny pinching so the argument of best value is not even relevant.

Who ever is saying Audi (especially A6 - the best looking saloon out there) is boring better get his eyes check or is simply jealus, because it is better than his/hers car.

155 on wet road is extremly dangerous, but u dont feel it in that car.

I'm testing it next month (also in Germany :D) and im already all excited. It is going to be my favorite car until the RS6 i predict.

I love the wide bumpers and first time used LEDs in the front!!!

I think that in this class this car stands alone and being tough--M5 is RWD and a competitor to the RS6 so it doesnt count, and although i love the Subaru and its 4wd, i dont think they have a car in this class.

And by one of the most boring cars this years, he meant, that it didnt make a fus when it came out, mostly because its just an A6 with a bigger engine, and few minor changes...

WHEN ARE THEY BRINGING THE RS6 - IF THATS BORING I AM GOING TO SHOOT MYSELF!!!

A company owned by Nissan (good), which is owned by RENAULT (bad) cannot be that better as u said. On tricky corners yes, but on the highway i felt like in a bucket. Electronics keep failing, so camera... is just another thing to go wrong. and u can also get all that "shit" in the A6.. maybe not in the US.

If u lived in Europe u would know why Audi over Infiniti... better engines, excellent reliability, better styling (depends on taste), easier to use, and quattro.
-Did u think that Audi's quattro and engine designed to be also fuel efficient, might make the car feel slower??? --And if u decide for the A6, wait a bit, because a "new" 4.2 is coming with more power and better fuel consumption!!

It's will probably be about 15 thousand dollars cheaper than the M5. It is also not intended to compete against the M5 directly. Sure the M5 has higer performance, but, the RS6 will beat the M5 like last time. Also, not to many people like the tacky, hideous, bloated look of the M5. You go ahead and drive the M5 at 155 in the rain, try not to kill yourself.

I don't necesarally hate BMW, I was just telling Sunny, that Audis aren't that far behind BMW. While the M5 might not be as bad as I said, you can't say that it has the cleanest design. The regular 5 series looks even worse. By the way,
check out this comparison, you might be surprised

Lets Agree to Disagree: Both are great cars. I bet when the RS6 comes out, it will upstage the M5. This cycle will continue, the car that is newer will be better. That is why the new M3 will probably be better than the current RS4.
Also, whoever said that you can option the A6 to over 70,000 is a lier. The most I got it was 65,540. Here is a link

Sure...if you like cars to be extremely flashy.

Look if you like your car to have a cartoony exaggerated look racy sports boy look at me type of look then take the Subaru WRX STI PTR LSD (and whatever extra 3 letter abbreviations you can add on to the end of it to make it sound more "sporty"). You're obviously not in the market for an S6.

The new M5 is also very "bland" in terms of styling with not that much extra in terms of additional styling. Personally I prefer a vehicle to be understated. Performance of the vehicle is there for ME to enjoy, not every other person on the road. Hopefully BMW stay this route and make the M3 a little less ostentatious than the last indulgent brash design.

But then again some people don't buy a car for the performance, some people buy the car so that they can brag about the performance of which they'll probably never even experience to it's fullest anyway.

Atleast many of u like the Subaru. That's good to hear.
And i am not comparing any Subaru to The S6.No.
I am just comparing their AWDs.

Symmetrical AWD VS the Quattro AWD.

I will not say i think, but i believe and i know that Symmetrical AWD of Subaru is better than The Quattro.

BTW the Subaru AWD mated with the the Boxer engines, feel as goood or even better than any Any Audi.U also know this,or if don't,then maybe haven't drove any Subaru.

And don't say me all this classes and all, like that blah blah Subaru has no class, or not the same as of Audi. What crap
I even seen Audi A8 W12 comparo with the RR PHANTOM.What u have to say for this.
Both 12 cylinders,450HP,0-62,luxurious....etc

If a car is comparable, why not.No concern for all that class or Jap VS Euro crap.

Ok do an Experimaent or a Comparo.Any one u like.
Audi A4 2.0TFSI Vs Legacy 2.5 GT(naturally aspirated)
or
Audi A4 3.2 V6 (250Hp) Vs Legacy 3.0R (250HP,naturally aspirated)

I have done and also read many megazines where exactly this comparo has been done by them.

Sure the Subaru was the winner,in every thing.
0-62,Topspeed,braking,AWD,feel,handling,drive...etcany thing and also for many grands less.

"A company owned by Nissan (good), which is owned by RENAULT (bad)"
Is it bad to associate with some winners.F1 chamopins. Both drivers and Constructors.
MAX speed,MAX handling and also MAX RELIABILITY.

I am waiting for the Renault-Nissan to give us some stunning new models many new and huge hits. And also i can see many wins and awards going there way in the future toooo.

I also believe that subaru's AWD is better for in many aspects, such as SPORTY performance. But Quattro is better for everyday use, high speeds on highways, and better FUEL ECONOMY.

I see u dont know much about Renault, "the F1 champion, but has no good sports car"
I've driven all the Renaults on the market...great cars for families, but poor on reliability.
You have really shown how much you know about Renault with MAX RELIABILITY -haha

And you have also demonstrated your knowledge on trying to compare or "comparo"the "quattro" in an A4 with subaru's AWD. A6+ have real Quattro ;)

I do agree on the FX though.. its nice

The S6 will be an utterly fantastic car to drive.

But when a BMW M5 comes creeping down the street....mouths drop open in awe of the polarizing road prescence this car has.

It simply looks like a mean machine.

And thats what I feel people want when the drop 85 grand on a V10 monster.

Sure, some people prefer sleepers and quietly understated sedans, but when it comes to this league of performance, I think its a safe bet to say people want to stand out with their purchase. This is where the S6 will struggle. It simply doesnt look different enough to justify that price. Sure...V10....19 inch rims....LED driving lights...all nice. But what makes this car stand out in traffic? A different grille and four exhausts? It looks like an A6 with a Sport Package to most Im sure.

The RS6 will address this. However... how they can go over 500hp is beyond me

But basically I just wish the S6 looked half as bad-ass as the cheaper RS4

I am talking about the relaibility of the F1 car, which Alonso and Fisichella drives.
And u don't have to care much about it's reliability,Renault is not offering anything here in US.WHen they will, they will address it.

"A6+ have real Quattro"

Why below A6 all have fake Quattro.Like A3,A4 or TT.

And how many cars are there in Audi's line-UP above A6?? 2
A6 and A8 or u can also include the new Q7.

U mean to say only these 2-3 cars have the real AWD and others use a fake AWD.

BUT all Subaru's use the real AWD.And AWD is standard in their car.Unlike Audi's Quattro which is optional.
This will tell u how much they pioneered with this technology,And how much expert they r in it.Or how AWD became a part of their cars.
There cars are based on AWD,and not AWD is based on them.

Well if u honestlly admitting to what i am saying, then u will know that Subaru's Main objectives are the AWD,Boxer engines, speed.
And Audi's is Luxury,Technology,Quality.

Subaru:AWD,Boxer engines and speed.
Audi :Luxury,Technology and Quality.

Despite of this, when i see, people discussing about AWDs they really forget the Symmetrical AWD of Subaru, and the first thing comes to their mind is Quattro.
I think this myth has to be addressed.People should think first about the REAL AWD CAR in the WORLD.SUBARU
followed by all other cars.

"I see u dont know much about Renault, the F1 champion, but has no good sports car"

How many good sports cars Audi have.
Not even 1.And they r calling themselves the Competitors of the BMW or AUDI.

Does Audi have 3 Series Coupe,M3,6 series,M6,CLK,CLK AMG,Cl,CL AMG,SL,SL AMG...etc type of cars.Does they have anything to challenge these.Does they the real 2 doors Sports CARS.

They only have one ugly sporty car,or a hatch, the failure THE TT.

All in all.I like both Audi and Subaru.I use to drive 2004 Audi RS6 ABT Sportsline,it was 505BHP.
With QUATTRO.I know much about them.
Now i have 2 Subarus 2.5 GT and 3.0R.

And i know if u want to take the taste of AWD,sit inside the Subaru and drive it.
It will give u more and a better feel,control...etc

1 small example from my side, just for u to understand or have a clear idea.

I go to a good restaurent which are offering all the good food like chicken,fish,italian,chineese.....etc
I choose to eat chinees.
But then i go to a chineese restaurent.Which offer and are only specilist in chineese food.

Which is good.

Offcourse the chineese food in the chineese restaurent.
The first one may be good overall, but Chineese are specilist at their chineese food.

THEREFORE AUDI MAY BE GOOD OVERALL,BUT SUBARU ARE SPECILIST AT THEIR GAME.
AWD.SYMMETRICAL AWD.

Now if u r really honest,u would have learnt alot from my talk.

What is wrong with u??? Audi is no.1 in the world for the most part.

BTW: TT was a huge success.

I dont believe u had an RS6 and now a subaru...Why dont u buy urself a Ferrari or Porsche rather??
Plus old audi's are COMPLETLY different story than the new ones... the new ones are simply brilliant. Period

And yes only A6+ have real Quattro.... it has something to do with the differential, but my english is not good enough to translate it. A4- have Quattro but not the same thing as A6+.

Suabru's is not doing well in Europe (the tough market) because it only offers AWD (higher fuel consumption - there goes 2 fifths of the costumers) and has no diesel (another 2 fifths of costumers gone).

I go to a German restaurant, and for half of price of a chineese one (which I dont like), I eat great and a lot. -still what does that have to do with cars??? Besides its Japanese

When I said Renault's F1, i had in mind the Megane RS F1, not the formula.

No hard feelings man

I believe it was there with Nissan at the time Carlos Gohsn took over Nissan.
So Renault doesn't have a hand in the making of this Engine.

350z has a 3.5 V6 with 300 hp. This engine is based on the Renault Vel Satis' 3.5 V6 with 245 hp.

They both have exactly 3498 cubic cm. I dont think 2 different engines would get exactly the same cubic space.

U r right, common sense first he was saying m45 is a bucket around corners and doesnt compare to the a6, now he is saying that m45 smokes the a6 in corners but doesnt feel as secure onthe highway.

And for that matter even some new Lexus and toyota's are 3.5litre V6.
It doesn't mean that it is the same engine which is with all the companies.

Finally What we should say to this type of argument or person.

He is proved to be a TRUE IGNORANT.

Quote (me the first time)
A company owned by Nissan (good), which is owned by RENAULT (bad) cannot be that better as u said. On tricky corners yes, but on the highway i felt like in a bucket.
-meaning on corners M45 better, highway worse.

Quote #2
And I have driven the M45 and yes, in the corners it smokes the A6, but come on the highway, and it doesnt feel half as secure as the a6

Please read my post before u say anything about what I said. My english is not perfect, but I dont think i screwed up here.

On the nissan engine:
every company can have a 3.5l engine, but how did Nissan or renault manage to get EXACTLY THE SAME ccm in an engine is beyond me. After that Clarkson says that the engine is from a Vel Satis and it clicks for me. I like Nissan, but getting 3498 ccm which is exactly the same makes be believe it does have something to do with renault.

No hard feelings guys, but give some supporting facts that the engine is not the same

Have a nice day

Audi Quattro AWD facts:

- The A4, A6, and A8 all have the world-class Torsen symmetrical Torsen quattro. This is a purely mechanical system that allows for instant power distribution based on the slightest change in wheel grip. Unlike electronic AWD systems, Torsen quattro doesn't need to sense any actual slippage for quattro to transfer power to any wheel. That's why you rarely hear any wheel spin on Torsen quattro Audi's.

- The S4, RS4, S6, S8, Q7, and forthcoming RS6 have the even more advanced Asymmetrical Torsen quattro. This system is similar to the above setup, but with an even more advanced differential that allows a rear-biased torque distribution by default (60% at the rear). This allows for the best of both worlds: All-wheel-drive security and grip, rear-wheel-drive fun and performance.

- Rear-biased quattro will make it into the entire line of Audi cars when the company switches to its exclusive new flexible platform technology (not shared by VW of course) that will eventually span the entire model line from the next-gen A4 all the way up to the A8.

- Audi's Asymmetrical Torsen quattro is universally regarded as the world's most advanced and most performance-oriented AWD system.

- VW's 4motion (used on all VW's current cars) is an entirely different and far less advanced system. It uses and electric clutch to initiate power transfer after in senses a 1/7 turn of wheel-spin. It's 100% front-drive by default, with 50% of power temporarily transferred to the rear wheels after sensing wheel spin.

Neadless to say, VW's system is not nearly as advanced or sports-oriented as Audi's quattro.

Subaru's acclaimed AWD system trails only Audi as the most well-regarded in the business.

I'll STILL put the Stmmetrical AWD of Subaru above Audi.Because of many reasons.

Look at these cars,oh my God S4, RS4, S6, S8, Q7, and forthcoming RS6
Vs Legacy,Impreza,tribeca...etc

Subaru's economical cars use the best AWD system, with boxer engines and Turbos...etc Imagine if they create the challenger/competitor for all that high performace Audis,BMWs and MBs
How good, improved, refined, advance their AWDs will be.

Why all of u r not agreeing with me on the point that Subaru's AWD IS BETTER THAN THE AWD'S IT'S COMPETIOTRS HAVE.

THAT IS LEGACY'S,IMPREZA'S,TRIBECAS'S AWD IS BETTER THAN EVERYONE'S IN THEIR CLASS/CATEGORY IN THE WORLD.

FOR EXAPMLE:LEGACY AWD > A4,C CLASS,3 SERIES,IS,G35,PASSAT...ETC

AGRRE OR NOT?
