Aston Martin's Cygnet City Car Will Become A Reality
Lotus might have wowed the world in Paris last week with some brand-busting plans around its new range, but don't forget Aston Martin got there first.
Its controversial Cygnet city car, first seen as a concept last year, was today declared a reality. Production will begin in Gaydon in 2011. At just three metres long, it will be the smallest Aston ever built.
And contrary to earlier rumours, the car will be available to all, not just existing Aston owners.

I like it. Offensive to the brand, but it's a nice substitute for those golf carts those rich people need to get around their estate. aha

maybe for the celebrity conscious drivers this will be alright... for an avg joe to dare say " i have an aston" this will embarrass you.. at least smart car drivers can say " i have a smart" they dont say i have a mercedes... this is very cute and i look forward to seeing it on the road.. but i wouldnt pay top dollar to be in this thing... at 30k it will sell well, at 40, i doubt it...

I think Aston could have reduced their average CO2 emissions by other means. More appropriately (and cooler) they could have stepped into the motorcycle market. Check it out. They could have teamed up with Triumph ( a British brand, as Aston's partner in this venture should be) to build bespoke versions of a few of their models. An Aston Martin version of the mighty Thunderbird, or the Sprint GT. Maybe with Aston's help Triumph could enter the luxury-sport-touring scooter market. Possibilities...
