No Bench Seat or Column Shift: VW's More American Jetta
While U.S. carmakers have been busy trying – with varying degrees of success – to design and build cars that are European, Volkswagen recently introduced a German car, the 2011 Jetta, that is intended to be more American. No, it doesn’t have bench seats or a column stick shift, but it does have more room in the passenger compartment and a lower price.

Executive Road Warrior magazine took the new Jetta SEL and the new Jetta TDI out for an extended test drive and reports on what works and what doesn't work in the new Jetta.

Article should read: "VW Builds Chevy's last generation Malibu"

Jetta just got more boring and beige than it has ever been. Where is the late 90's early 2000's models with tight build, fun turbo's, small proportions. VW has really moved away from it's roots and is apparently dying to become the next Pontiac.

Every girl I knew and met either drove, wanted or saved for that late 90's/early 2000 generation Jetta.

This current Jetta looks like VW is making a play for the US rental fleet.
