Hot new trend brewing? Really cool looking, inexpensive sport coupes to rule soon?

You wait four years for a Ford Puma replacement and then, just like London buses, two come along at once. Mazda's Kabura is a great-looking compact coupé, but now Ford has built its own Fiesta-based sportster - the Reflex. And in a major exclusive, Auto Express hit the road in the newcomer, first!

With record high fuel prices and a growing appreciation that drivers will have to curb their thirst for gas-guzzlers, reality is hitting home for motorists in the USA. That's what has prompted Ford to turn its attention to building a stylish small coupé once again.

AUTO SPIES PERSPECTIVE: Our favorites so far are the Scion concept revealed in New York, Mazda Kabura and Ford Reflex

Even i agree Spies, cool & aggressive looking, inexpensive sport coupes to rule soon.
But now no one can deny this, that most cars of these types will be coming from the Japnnese,Koreans and offcourse from US.

If you are so knowledgeable as you suggest, then why would you make the ridiculous claim that the new stream of economical and fun coupes are going to come from the US?

The American public are so displacement-happy that America hasn't built a decent small car....ever. So why do you think suddenly they will start building them?

The Pontiac Solstice was GM's attempt, and while it looks nice, it has a horrible engine and a MX-5 would embarrass it in the handling department.

Why is it you completely ignore Europe? The Europeans already make small, fun to drive sports cars with Diesel power, meaning lots of torque and power, but very economical.

Skoda Fabia VRS, Alfa Romeo Brera JTD etc.

I still expect Japan to rule the segment, but comment about the US and lack of acknowledgement for Europe makes me wonder why you are the CARMAN.

Could you explain your statement?

Not JUGNU's. Although it was addressed to him.

I said this right.

"that most cars of these types will be coming from the Japnnese,Koreans and offcourse from US".

I can name 25-30 new cars which are coming form Asian manufacturers and hopefully 2-3 good ones from Americans.
And u also know this.

But can u name atleast 3-4 new German cars of this type which spies is talking about (keypoint here is inexpensive).

The answer is no.or maybe 1 inexpensive, cool looking sport coupes is arriving from the Europe.

Mathew.First look at what the spies is saying or what the topic is all about.
Second.Look at the examples given by Spies,so that u have a clear idea what they r talking about and what they r predicting.
Ford Puma,Mazda's Kabura,Fiesta-based sportster-the Reflex,Scion concept...etc type of cars.

Europeans r not bad but concentrate or focus more on Expensive cars(which they r good at) which many don't need or can't buy.
Bugatti Veyron,Koiengsegg,Lamboghini LP640 Murcielago,pagani Zonda F,New Rolls Cabrio,Bentley GTC,R8,599 GTB....etc
Still that keypoint which is inexpensive is missing from their coupes.

I don't want to include exotics here, but i just gave the exapmle so that u would know that more than these cars --Really cool looking, inexpensive sport coupes, they r making more new Exotics.

I don't see them coming up with new Golf,Jetta,Rav4,Camry,RX8,MX-5 Miata...etc type of cars.

BMW's cheapest car is 1 series which is expensive then the Camry,Accord,Altima...etc
Same case with MB,Audi,VW...etc

Their sport coupes, start at a price where almost all Japaneese coupes/cabrios finishes.
CL,CLK,SL,3 coupe,M3,6 Seires,M6,Z...etc
VS
Mazdas,Toyotas,Nissans,Hondas...etc

They r very good indeed, but certainly not in the same segment or in the segment Spies is talking about.

So how can i include german or Europeans in this category. No i can't and even they don't have such cars. This segment doesn't belongs to them.

Atlast i really believe that not only cool looking, inexpensive sport coupes will rule soon but even Japaneese GTs and GTRs Crossovers,Hybrids,Fuel cells...etc will also rule soon.

And i say myself CARMAN,not because i have the MAX knowledge but because i like all cars,i am not biassed towards anyone unlike many of u.I am a WORLDCARFAN.
More of i am JUGNU------->THE CARFAN.
