Audi Creates A Godzilla Killer With The TT RS DTM

Audi Creates A Godzilla Killer With The TT RS DTM
Rumour has it, you even look at this thing in the face, it'll kill you. Its howls can be heard around the forested walls of the Nurburgring, and tales of its bodykit are told to scare naughty children...

This, TopGearers, is what a TT RS DTM-spec racer could look like. Could, because this is just a prototype, developed by Raeder Motorsport in conjunction with Audi.

At the last two rounds of the Nurburgring endurance championship, Raeder will contest the SP 4T class with this TT beastie as a test to see if the TT RS is a viable customer sport option. Which means, should the test be completed successfully, you could get your grubby mitts on a TT RS to go racing. Yay!

hahaha Audi's attempt for a Godzilla killer was the v10 R8 and it failed miserably (at twice the price). in fact, Audi needs a whooping V16 (buggati) to outperform Nissan's V6. Imagine if nissan made a V16... duuude

suckers, only the Autospies title says anything about it being a "Godzilla Killer"

"Imagine if nissan made a V16... duuude "

they want to, but they still haven't figured out how to build a reliable transmission. this article is about motorsport and we don't have to argue which brand is the more successfull one there!

LOL, I like Audi and think they make good cars, but that is not a GT-R challenger!! GT-R is in a totally diffrent atmosphere.

To say the least, this is a race car, not a production car. I just don't get why people read into this website's titles.... nothing to do with the actual article...

Lol.. sorry but Autospies talking about motorsport... normally a fail.

I know WCF posted this as a 'DTM' car, but seriously, I think tha was a deduction made because it looks a bit like it might be a DTM racer.

Certainly with current regs, and foreseeable future regs this will not ever ever ever compete in DTM.

DTM cars do not share anything (important) with their roadcar counterparts, you don't make a DTM car out of a normal car.. you build it from the ground up to have a set wheelbase and track, with a spec engine and gearbox, with mandated aerodynamics..

The cars are designed and built for/by the manufactuers. If anyone thought the TT belonged in DTM the only way it would be viable is to take the A4 DTM car and rebody it... except, at the moment it would still get kicked out because the regs state the car must resemble a saloon car in certain key areas.

Granted the rules will soon be changing but I 100% guarantee that this car is as likely to see DTM action as my slightly knackered old 5 series will... and that is not at all.... ever.

So why does the rules for entry in the DTM state that manufacturers must sell a homologated version of the car that races in the series???

Do you think MB made the C63 Black edition or Audi made the TT RS for nothing? I would comment on the Astra, but it is not sold where I am located.

I don't believe the manufacturers are REQUIRED to sell a homologated version, but they may CHOOSE to let the public think that the car they are buying is somehow related to a DTM car.

Can you point out which part of the 6.2 V8 C63 Black is used in a DTM car.. y'know the 4.0 90° V8 DTM cars that are used at the moment... or the TT-RS?... y'know in the RWD only DTM series, where the TT no longer competes... or what the homologated version ofthe current A4 DTM would be.....?

..?

The primary reason that DTM struggles to attract any other manufacturers is because the car is as unique to the DTM as an F1 car is to Formula 1.... unlike other tin-top series that use pretty standard regs, such as Super2000 or NGTC, or FIA GT regs, DTM cars only run in the DTM.

DTM and SuperGT are looking to standardise regulations to allow manufacturers to sell race cars to a greater variety of teams. It is this basic fact that has enticed BMW back to the DTM.

a DTM c-class and an AMG C63 don't share one single part. neither the headlights (w/o adjustment) nor the screws (titanium), let alone other part, are the same.

"Lol.. sorry but Autospies talking about motorsport... normally a fail."

the most sophisticated line about racing i've ever red on autospies, sad but true.

"to let the public think that the car they are buying is somehow related to a DTM car"

don't mix up the average autospies reader and motorsport enthusiasts.

@morepower
When was the last time Opel was in DTM? 2005? TT RS? um, maybe because they are trying to put out an RS version... MB Black series? well, perhaps it has nothing to do with DTM and all to do with Marketing AMG vehicles... ever thought of that one?

If it needs to be this potato to kill Godzilla, then that's simply a failure.....

To all the idiots who commented about this car being Godzilla Killer...

http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/audi-tt-rs-dtm-unveiled?utm_source=rss

Please go to the website and find me the passage that says Audi created this car to clash with Godzilla... or that this car is even meant to clash with it... or that this is a Godzilla killer, or anything else stupid that you guys are posting...

Do that and your comments might actually have some credit...

Godzilla killer or not, I'll gladly drop my money on a V10 R8. Twice the price or not. They just aren't the same. To me track times aren't the only key to a good car.....

true, sometimes exterior Aestheics is all you want to go on. Unless of course you prefer the chrome disco keg shifter knob and the go-cart inspired steering wheel found in the R8, then I guess interior quality is in the eye of the beholder.
