GMC, Buick may offer loaner vehicles to boost brand awareness
In an effort to build awareness of General Motors Co.'s GMC and Buick products, a courtesy loaner program is being considered for customers getting warranty service on their vehicles. Brian Sweeney, vice president of sales for Buick and GMC, said that this service may begin in the “next couple weeks.”

This program would work by getting GMC Acadia owners into a Buick Enclave, for instance, and boost recognition of more GM vehicles. Sweeney, who had recently addressed about 900 dealers that sell the two brands, said that the company is aiming to expose customers to other Buick and GMC products.

I think this is a very good idea. Loaner vehicle usage is a quick way of getting customer into something lesser-known --- kind of a test drive without the pressure of actually buying.

I get my FX serviced at the local Infiniti dealership. I usually call ahead (before oil changes, tune ups, etc) to see if a loaner vehicle will be available. I have been able to drive all of the models in the Infiniti lineup because of this. I know that I the G is pretty slick, has all kinds of interior content, and would be nice for my wife. I love the newest FX, but hate the older QX (have to wait a bit until I can get into the new QX).

I wouldn't have tried any of the cars if I had to go through the sales-bit process. The loaner process is easy. They get a copy of my ID and insurance & then they hand me the keys...see ya. Bring it back in one piece.
