Porsche SHOWDOWN: Carrera GT Vs. GT2RS
Now when you start talking about high-end Porsches, you cannot really go wrong. They're all fantastic performance machines but when it comes to the fastest, that's when things get a bit tricky.
So, AutoBild decided it was going to get together a Carrera GT and a 997 GT2RS and figure things out.
Now...if only I could speak German...
The German car magazine Auto Bild has made a comparsion video with a versus between the Porsche Carrera GT and the 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Race legend Walter Rohrl takes the Carrera GT around the track against the fastest production Porsche ever to be developed, the GT2 RS...

?
1. There's simply no space to drop in V10 in the rear of 911.
2. 1380 kg, or 3000 lb, is no porky for a road car. ENZO weights only 30 lb less.
3. 106hp & 75lb-ft/L is just about that of E46 M3, and certainly no match of today's GT3 or 458, so not really 'superior'. Besides, I was NOT saying adding FI to this V10.

the flat 6 engine is a relatively heavy engine layoue, with the advantage of a very low center of gravity. i doubt that the v10 is that much heavier. Röhrl said the limiting factor of the cgt are the tires. put gt2rs tires on it and it should be just as fast, if not faster, around the ring. btw, 1380 kg are everything but porky.

This is ironic. I was on my way to the store early this morning. And from a block away I saw it's shape. Sitting by alone in the shade curbside was a lonley 2005 Carrera GT in GT Silver Metallic. I parked and strolled across the street to see it. Stood next to it taking in the car and its details and then a full walk around. It has been six years since that car hit the streets and I had forgotten how damn cool the car is. They only built 1500 of them, so to me it is a treat to see the car.
A classic real supercar. I didn't car how much it weighed, 0-60, skid pad or any of that, just appreciated that Porsche had the vision and talent to make such a machine. It made may day just to see it. I called my friend to tell him as he would "get it" and he was smiling that the guy was driving the GT and it was dirty and in need of a wash made it more cool. Go Porsche!!

I happened to see one in Alpine, NJ not too long ago. Brilliant machine with an awesome sound.
