Is Vince Vaughn Right? ARE Electric Cars Gay? Or Chick Cars Or Douchey? You Pick Who To Offend
In light of recent events, it seems that Vince Vaughn's joke in a movie trailer has sparked a bit of controversy. So much so that it was edited out.

If you have not heard, Vaughn proclaims that "electric cars are gay."

What it really comes down to is why is this worse than calling a particular car -- or any object for that matter -- a "chick" car, a "douchemobile" or whathaveyou? It it a tasteless joke or has our society become too politically correct?

AND are electric cars "gay?" Whatever that means anyway...

Universal agreed to remove the word 'gay,' used in a derogatory sense, from a movie trailer last week under pressure from GLAAD. Now Vince Vaughn, whose character says the line, says he hopes it stays in the film.

In the old trailer for the Ron Howard-directed 'The Dilemma,' Vince's character said, "Ladies and gentleman, electric cars are gay....

Feels like we've been through this more than just once! Must be the baiting headlines. Let's see who will take the hook and run with it.

"Baiting" is just where you begin with this headline. "Deception" or "lying" might easily follow. Nowhere in the article is it understood that Vince Vaughan believes electric cars are gay so there's really no question of his correctness. His character utters the phrase in a movie and I'm not even sure that the character believes what he's saying. Imagine this OuttaSpice headline: Is Edward Norton Right? Is every problem in this country race-related not just crime? (American History X)

It's pretty easy

All electric prius = boring

All electric R8 or LFA = awesome

Basically if it's about economy people don't get too excited. But when it's about performance people seem to pay attention

Here's the reality: Everyone expresses the crap that lives between their ears as though it were Reality. Their values, beliefs, assumptions, understanding, etc. They think it's real, and they judge the world and others using their own version of "reality." That's why some folks believe that a male connot be a heterosexual if he drives an electric vehicle, or a certain color car.

If you like an EV, or a hybrid, or what have you, and it makes sense for *you*, then get it, enjoy it, and don't be concerned about the stuff between someone else's ears.

Electric cars are NOT gay.Rather they are boring and currently in most cases not fun to drive. They also tend to be expensive. Therefore they become the intellectual choice for someone who wishes to believe they are making an impact on the environment. But you all know that due to the location of parts and precious metals electric cars make a much greater carbon footprint during their manufacturing then do conventional gas fed cars. The impact of the transportation of these parts from all over the globe causes this to occur. Also thise ups the cost to produce and why it costs more to buy. While they are bought by plenty of gay people they are also bought by plenty of affluent people in general as well.People that are financially strapped right now cannot really afford electric cars. The Volt is going to sell for 40 grand plus and you will have to apply for the tax credit(I believe)). Even so it's still going to be selling over 30 grand net. Also how long will it take to get your money back so your out the 10 grand for a period of time. But as they say"its your dime".
