Toyota Recalls 1.66 Million MORE Vehicles For A Variety Of Defects
Toyota Motor Corp said on Thursday it would repair 1.66 million Avalon and other vehicles, mostly in Japan and the United States, in the latest large-scale recall to plague the world's biggest automaker.
The announcement came less than two months after a recall in Canada and the United States of 1.3 million Corolla and Matrix cars carrying defective engine control modules that could cause the vehicles to stall.
Toyota had already recalled over 10 million vehicles in the past year, mostly for unintended acceleration, denting its reputation for quality and attracting intense scrutiny from U.S. safety regulators.

these vehicle stalling cases have been known for a long time now. Why did it take so long?

Maybe because they have publicly stated their ECUs had no problems, then when probing the data, vehicles were showing velocities in the hundreds of miles an hour at the time of an incident.
This is in direct contradiction of previous statements. Now are the responsible for the unintended acceleration issues? Only the experts know for sure, but I am not holding my breath to here it from Toyota.

And my resale went up again! Everyone scoffed that I bought the slow 2005 XR AWD Matrix but having no issues or recalls after millions makes me even more secure in the purchase.

That isn't true. Other brands are listed as well. When a company as big as toyota/lexus has a global quality meltdown it is big news.

Take another unbiased look, Autospies does a pretty good job of list all recalls. Lets face facts Toyotas had a bunch more recalls as of late.

Not that I'm a big Toyota Fan, but there has been a suspicious absence of other recalls in the past two weeks:
Mercedes Benz 100 in US, UK, and China 25k
GM - 322k on October 16th
Volvo - 10k yesterday
Chrysler - 26k yesterday
many more I'm sure
It is so obvious that there is no doubt of the biases that all the agents have.

a car can be recalled and still be reliable. Yet another car can be in the shop everyday with no recalls and be unreliable. Common sense.

No it cannot, if a car needs to be brought in for recalls it is not reliable as you can't use it.... it is the same thing as having to take it in for repairs except with a recall the company is paying for it, and German cars are not in the shop all the time if that is what you are trying to imply

This means Toyota has called back over 10 million vehicles this year so far.
A GM like figure. I guess when it rains, it pours.

I think Toyota got caught with their pants down and now they are trying to make up for it in a big way. What they are doing with the recalls this past year is by far more aggressive than any of the other auto companies. When it is all said and done they will be fixed where the other will still be hiding their issues. They are just trying to clear their name during a bad time for them in the public eye. And yes this site "009" is clearly biased against Toyota.

Toyota is under the spotlight here at Autospies because of their murderous unintended acceleration (found guilty by public opinion), and the resulting hate-a-thon that has ensued.
Just like the worst of "news" outlets, sensationalism gets viewers (and clicks at Autospies). Real news doesn't. And especially good news.

But, ( I know bad grammar here )did you notice when the recalls were first starting to pile upor at least the first few , nothing was being said . Now as soon as one type media being either the press or radio or tv started to report the recalls the media seems to be on kind of a witch hunt now for more dirt on Toyota

While I am disappointed at Toyotas recalls as of late, there have been companies that have done worse. If you read the above article, look how long it took ford to issue the recall for these vehicles, yet people are bashing toyota for not fixing something on time.

Sad. Like Ive said before: I hate to see this kind of news for ANY automaker no matter how much they arent my cup of tea but anything man made can/will fail.
As far as this new recall goes, this was on the news along with Honda recalling Acura (forgot which model, RL?) yesterday. I think they were purposely trying to make the foreign cars look bad because they mentioned it before the break AND after the break. During the break there were Chevy commercials! Idk, maybe it was in my head...

Looked a new Consumer Reports issue and the only model Toyota that comes a "Recommended Buy" is the Prius . The rest of the car line was just given a matter of fact breakdown of the cars and trucks . That's got to hurt as I'm sure many of their salesmen were using that magazine as a sales tool or at least mentioning it
