Report: 2011 Ford F-150 EcoBoost could be priced as low as $25,140
Ford Motor Co.’s 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine is priced at $1,750 – more expensive than its entry-level engine for its 2011 F-150 pickups. The EcoBoost V6 engine will get the best fuel economy of Ford’s four new engines for the truck and it also offers the highest towing capacity.

During a recent media event in Romeo, Marc Lapine, consumer marketing manager for Ford trucks, told the Free Press that despite it being slotted as a premium engine, the company sought to make sure that the technology was affordable.

That engine is something wicked. Pop's tuned Flex Eco ran a 13.5 @101mph & change a few weeks ago at the strip. His very first time ever at the strip. That truckster weighs a LOT too! Brothers and I were predicting it would run in the 14's. Announcer said that guy better have a helmet on, which he did. :)

They really did good with this motor. If this motor offers the best fuel economy and towing capacity, why would anyone want a bigger motor which waste more fuel and tows less? Some people I guess are stuck in the past and don't believe a V6 is capable of anything in these trucks. I know plenty of older guys that have it stuck in their heads that a V8 is more powerful and tows more than any V6. It makes me so mad that people are not willing to educate themselves and are not open to new ideas.

An inline 6 will do that and last longer because it has 7 main bearings on the crank where a v8 only has 5 and a v6 has only 4. Do the math, 8 cylinders, 8 rods on a crank supported with only 5 bearings or 6 cylinders 6 rods supported by 7 bearings. also with the inline 6 there is a bearing after every rod, where in a v6/v8 there is a bearing between every 2 rods, so each bearing has the stress of more rods than in an inline 6. I am all for the eco boost, and I like it, and am very impressed with the torque, but I think an inline 6 turbo would be even better, as the bottom end would handle the power and torque better thanks to 3 more main bearings than a v6.

from their website, it doesn't look like you can get the EcoBoost with the Lariat trim... which sucks. I want to trade in my Audi for a truck... but I wanted the Lariat for the cooled seats (I live in Florida). The website only lists the offerings at the 5.0 or the 6.2. :-(
