Feds Praise Automakers For Placing Consumer Safety First With Latest Recalls
The head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration praised automakers Thursday for moving faster to recall flawed vehicles, singling out Toyota Motor Corp. for its improvements.

In a Detroit News interview this week, NHTSA chief David Strickland said the agency has "increased the pace" of investigations.

The head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration praised automakers Thursday for moving faster to recall flawed vehicles, singling out Toyota Motor Corp. for its improvements.

In a Detroit News interview this week, NHTSA chief David Strickland said the agency has "increased the pace" of investigations.

"We are now seeing the manufacturers stepping up, looking harder at their own decisions," Strickland said, adding that automakers are making "the right decisions in terms of safety and consumers."

This is good-will publicity for Toyota because they employ many Americans. Toyota, and the other auto makers, are being pro-active on the recalls because it's easier and cheaper than settling the matter in court.

This is not "Leave it to Beaver, the Brady Bunch or whatever fairytale your father told you while you were sitting on his knee or when he was tucking you in for bed. Large Corporations are beholden to their shareholders. The shareholders only care about the return on their investment. Some long, lost duty to the public, is like a unicorn or a magic formula that turns iron to gold: A fairytale!
