RUMOR: Say What? BMW Considering A M3GT?!

RUMOR: Say What? BMW Considering A M3GT?!
Now I have heard some rumors in my time but this one is a pretty good one. Then again, who ever thought there would be an X6 let alone an X6M.

Apparently rumors are flying around that BMW is considering axing the M3 sedan for the new F M-car in order to build an M3 GT.

Now before you scream bloody murder or jump for joy, we want to know what do you make of this?

If this is true, why would BMW pursue this AND if it's false would you be disappointed?

Let us know in the comments down below and make sure to check out the link or blown up image to read it for yourself!

Just got my latest copy of Roundel and there is a rumor that BMW will produce an M3 GT in place of the sedan when F3X model comes out. Not sure why BMW thinks that a mini X6M will sell better than a sedan if M3 sedan sales are so disappointing. That would signal to me that most M3 buyers are not necessarily looking for more practicality...

I actually like the M3 sedan but BRING ON THE M3GT. I am assuming this would be a CLK63 Black series competitor if it were still being made. this is great maybe now they can compete with Audi's RS package A5

"this is great maybe now they can compete with Audi's RS package A5"

Can you point me to a comparison test where the M3 Lost to RS5, The current M3 has won every test I've read or seen.

I wish they had made the 335i wagon for the US. I would have bought that instead of the 335i sedan with fold down rear seats. I like the new design of the wagon for Europe better than the GT. But, what do I know?
the 3er GT would do much better than the 5GT. But if the programs and incentives are horrible like on the 3er wagon, then it wont sell.

I don't think this is a big deal, because from what I've read the 3GT won't look like the 5GT. It loses the double-opening trunk, and as such will be much sleeker looking (a la the Audi A5 Sportback). If that's the case then I say go ahead and build it if you think people will buy it.

BMW is more concerned about car sales then aggresive styling. Anything today that hints of utility BMW now wants to be in.This appeals to the the general public but not to car enthusiasts.Frankly BMW car design has been lacking for quite some time. The current 3 series coupe looks bloated compared to it's predessesor. The 2 bright stars on the horizon is the "Grand Turismo and the 6 series coupe". They are at least a step in the right direction if not really beautiful. Honestly I thing Mercedes designs are a lot more crisp and attractive. Audi is slightly stale because the've not really moved the game on. The exceptions are their A7 and "Quattro" concept. There A5-RS5 coupe is not bad looking either. Out of the 3 BMW's are the least attractive in my eyes.
