Top Gear Meets 60 Minutes-Clarkson Calls Audi Drivers More Psychologically Unfit Than Those Driving BMW's
I'm sure like us, you were excited to catch the 60 Minutes feature on Top Gear tonight.
During the segment Jeremy Clarkson was up to his usually antics, making a new bold claim about Audi drivers.
Here is the exact exchange between him and 60 Minute's Steve Crofts:
Steve Crofts: "You once said, all bmw's are driven by people who are psychologically unfit to drive anything more powerful than an electric razor."
Jeremy Clarkson: "Yeah, that certainly WAS the case, I would change that to Audi's now".
My question is WHY do you think he thinks Audi drivers have eclipsed BMW owners in this regard?
It's also interesting that they made no mention that a USA version was coming soon.

It's a running theme of Jeremy's - there's always one sort of driver he hates, and it's the arrogant cocks that used to drive BMWs, and now drive Audis. It's just a joke with absolutely no basis in fact!

Very true...because anybody that is paying any attention at all while driving knows that it is Toyota drivers that are psychologically unfit to drive anything more than a razor!!

I saw the "60 Minute" piece - had no idea had big a deal the TopGear show and brand is world-wide. I guess Clarkson picks on whoever is the top of the current heap. Porsche makes iconic cars, so he hates Porsche. Audi has huge world-wide momentum, so it's time for him to take them down a peg. He's a buffoon, but a good one.

@cigarguy
Definitely a British thing, they don't make cars anymore so they just bash on everyone else's cars and/or are in denial. I saw an article from Autocar about how Saab is using British engines now (from the deal with BMW) just like when the used to use Triumph motors in the Saab 99...
Newsflash: the engines Saab is buying from Mini are German.

The wonderful thing about stereotypes is that it relieves us of having to think! All that complex brain stuff is hard :-( With stereotypes, we simply adopt the belief, and we believe we understand the person. Cool! All Italians in America drive Camaros. All African-Americans drive Cadillacs. All BMW drivers are *ss-holes. Isn't it great being able to know what a person is all about, just by their nationality, skin color, or the car they drive? Bravo Jeremy Clarkson, for relieving us from having to think for ourselves!

But all BMW drivers ARE assholes! They just haven't caught on to buying Audis in large numbers in the states yet.

BMW driver's don't mind being called assholes...as long as they're not stuck behind the wheel of Toyota or Nissan.

I have never agreed or supported someone else's view on how I should drive a car or what constitutes "enjoyment" of driving. It is different for everyone. I don't care about the "hard-core" BS. Hard-core is what I believe hard core is for me, not what one nutjob seeking publicity thinks it is.
So how does this guy go on to generalize all Audi (or BMW) drivers as one specific type? how does anyone with ANY level of INTELLIGENCE make such an absurd generalization. The answer is, controversy-> publicity -> profits.
This is why I do not waste my time listening to this show...although I may watch it for the cool cars, but could care less about their opinions.

according to Jeremy all M3 drivers were cocks and of course this switched to Audi drivers recently. So there was the comment that it was OK to get an M3 again since all the cocks presumably had moved on to buy Audi's. This of course is Jeremy at his best. He likes to hit things both literally and figuratively with a HAMMER.
