Discounts Seem To Be The Only Thing Keeping Toyota Sales Going
In almost perfect contrast to Ford’s rapidly rising average transaction prices, Toyota is having to keep incentives and dealer discounts high in order to keep moving the metal. Automotive News reports that Toyota dealers, once money printing machines, are having to accept lower gross profits.
Transaction prices on new 2011 models are the lowest, as a percentage of sticker prices, of all mainstream brands, according to TrueCar and Edmunds.com. And Toyota dealers aren’t denying it:

Lousy products with a lousy attitude to match. Now that word is out, its no surprise Toyota is havin' trouble with sales - even after discounts. Racketeering charges, delay after delay in reporting defects, a federal grand jury investigation, and the list goes on ad nauseum. Been bloggin' 'bout 'em at http://www.uc2.blogspot.com

Toyota needs new product in the showroom. Toyota made a mistake by offering the discounts to increase sales on their bread & butter models. now American consumers will expect it.

I would not say that just yet. Toyotas problem is that it dose not have anything fun to drive. No cars 0 t0 60 under 7.5 seconds, those type of cars are ok for the boomers who like brown and beige and want to just "play it safe" but the boomers kids are all grown up and remember how boring their moms Toyota was and will look to cars like the Genesis or Altima's something with more pop!
