BMW Plans To Regain Premium Car Dominance With Raft Of New Technologies

BMW is preparing a raft of new technology that will enable its future models to react ‘intelligently’ with local road conditions to allow both greater fuel efficiency as well as improving safety for both drivers and pedestrians.

BMW describes the new philosophy as “Connected Drive meets Efficient Dynamics”. The German car manufacturer expects to roll out the technology over the next few years in the new 3-series and 6-series.

What I'd like to see them come up with is an emergency roadside device that could be put into duty in the event of flat or otherwise undrivable tires--or even wheels. It would allow the driver to continue operation without any further assistance, even in remote areas.

It would be a round device, around 25 pounds, and could be fit in a special depression underneath the carpeting of the trunk.

Or they could just make engines that don't fail because of fuel pump problems
