2011 BMW M5 spy video at Nurburgring

This new spy video shows the latest iteration of BMW’s M5, and there's a big shift in the engineering this time round. Following the fashion for downsizing and turbocharging, the current 5.0-litre V10 is ditched for a new twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8.

Despite the capacity shrinkage, power will increase as the F10-generation M5 will sport 578bhp, whereas the previous generation mustered 'only' 500bhp. Torque swells too, up to 531lb ft from the 398lb ft of today's M5. The Mercedes E63 AMG, by comparison, has 518bhp and 464lb ft.

You have to love the increase in torque, as long as its usable, this could be a monster

@Globaltrader

Unless that new 300c is packing a Viper V-10 or some high-reving, sweet banshee V-8 or V-12 wail of a "little known" Fiat subsidiary, no one wants to talk about it in a blog post about the next generation M5.
