LOL: Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport priced from $3.6 million in India!
Bugatti announced that it introduced the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport car in India, due to the fact that the combined net worth of India's 100 wealthiest people climbed to a record $300 billion this year. The bad news is that the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport will carry a price tag of 160 million rupees ($3.6 million), due to a 110 percent import tax. According to Guy Caquelin, Bugatti's marketing manager for the Middle East, Europe and India, the customers who want such a car will have to wait six to eight months.

Here in Brazil, Platinuss offer the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport for 7,7 million reais. Yesterday (28/10), US$ 1,00 = R$ 1,71, so here it costs US$ 4,5 million.

Platinuss sells*
And it sells the Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster for 8,8 million reais, or something like US$ 5,15 million. This year, a Pagani Zonda F was sold for 4 million reais, or US$ 2,34 million. Do you want more? Here, a Chrysler 300C V6 costs 130k reais, which is about US$ 76k. Now you can laugh.

Well... yes. But there are problems.
1- We have about 100% taxes here to import cars too.
2- Our gas has between 20% and 25% of ethanol, so, basically, every car sold in Brazil is capable of running in E25, except those diesel powered, of course. This has some cost to manufacturers and we pay for it.
3- Our market for cars above 90k reais, or US$ 52,6k, in 2009 was around 40k cars. So, if you know you will sell only a few thousands or hundreds cars and you'll have to modify them to run with different gas...

Ok, 3 million cars were sold here in 2009, but half of this was sub 30k reais, or 17,5k dollars. And these cars are usually 1L four-cylinder and they don't have power windows, power door locks, not even tacometer. Actually, if you want a car in Brazil that has power door locks, power windows, air conditioning, power steering, stereo, air bags and ABS, you will have to pay 50k (US$ 29,2k) or more. In this case, I'm talking about four-cylinder 1,6L to 2.0L and 110hp to 150hp small hatches (we consider them midsized hatches), like Ford Focus (second generation, that was not sold in US), Citroen C4, Peugeot 307, GM Vectra hatch (actually, the third generation Opel Astra), VW Golf (VW Rabbit in US, but the fourth generation, sold in US around 2000 with 300 facelifts)... and I don't consider those shoe boxes chinese cars. That is suicide.
