RUMOR: Is An Audi R5 On Its Way For 2014?
Here it comes! Audi's plans to bring forth another R-car seem to be going according to schedule. Reports are suggesting the car will be made available in 2014.

Not meant to be a TT or an R8, this mid-engined vehicle will be a middler between the two. So, I guess that would mean this pint-sized Audi would go head-to-head with cars from Lotus or Porsche? Maybe a Cayman fighter, even though it is sort of a family member? Hm, weird.

We'll stay away from the confusing stuff. According to CAR magazine, the new R5 is said to be about the length of a Lotus Exige, which obviously means weight will be a major focus for this car. You know what that means, this car is going to handle like it is on RAILS.

Circulating rumors are putting the turbocharged, 2.5-liter five-cylinder from the Audi TTRS in the R5's engine bay.

If we are to believe a report from Britain's Car magazine, Audi is planning to introduce a mid-engined sports car called the R5. Said to be positioned between the more mainstream TT and the flagship R8, the R5 is believed to be based on the VW Group's forthcoming MiMo (as in "MittelMotor") mid-engine sports car platform, which will also be used on future Porsche and VW models.

The same inside sources imply that the R5 will be available in both coupe and convertible forms, with styling cues borrowed from Audi's E-tron and E-tron Spyder concepts...

It will probably be way Overprice and Under power for the price they won. This the problem with Audi, eventually people will figure this out. The only Audi I am considering buying is the Audi R8 and Audi RS5, the rest of their line up is Ridiculously Overprice and under power like the A5 and TT model.

A6/A8 are pretty good values IMO.

They also need to get rid of their current styling and design cars that are less quirky and more elegant.
