CNET Says 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Is Better Suited For The Track Than The Road

CNET Says 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Is Better Suited For The Track Than The Road

Not so much car as rocket-powered scream machine, the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 improves on the previous model by being even more focused on its purpose: that of being a track car. Don't expect German refinement or Japanese technical wizardry, as the Corvette Z06 is all about low-down power.

And don't think that just because you're paying almost $100 grand for a car you will get the latest cabin tech. The navigation system in the Corvette Z06 seems more of a practical joke than a gadget, and the Bluetooth phone system echoes GM's former mulishness about embracing that technology.

Sounds like a biased review, name one Japanese car that out performs this car? Do any Japanese cars have the magnetic material that enables it to change the dampening on the fly? Carbon fiber roof to keep the weight down... And what performance car with the top 20 stig times is made for grocery shopping? Unrefined? lol

here's one: Nissan GTR. but that's only for 1/4 mile, slalom, and just about any track in the world.

I do agree though, who would want to do groceries on this marvelous piece of machinery? The review is in fact biased. The reviewer is obviously not into performance cars and can't appreciate what the Z06 was intended for.

Gtr, you are right, the GTR has a .7 faster stig time than the vett, very impressive and a first for any Japanese car, I am a fan of the GTR, Last year or two the Vett was faster, soon the vett will inch ahead and in a year or so the GTR will improve...

The GTR has been updated already without the corvettes help.

I stand to be corrected about the adjustable dampening, lol I opened a can of worms, for the record I am a Honda fan.

Ok lets factor in price as well an the vette would be unbeatable by a long shot.

Since when does anyone care what CNET says about cars?

I guess just about anyone can get into this whole car reviewing thing. As for me, I'm waiting to see what "Better Homes & Gardens" has to say about the Z06 before I make up my mind.

It's interesting that he doesn't mention the notoriously poor seats as per usual in the Corvette. But it is true. The typical owner who drives a Corvette to work or to the supermarket <sigh> won't go for the Z06. So that's just fine.

Why would you ever look to CNET to tell you anything relating to Automobiles besides Radio technology and ipod adapters.

CNET blows, as do most nationally published automotive magazines!

"...Don't expect German refinement or Japanese technical wizardry"

No, that would only hurt the car
(heavy dose of sarcasm!)

And a Porsche Turbo S costs?? And you get what?? Maybe they should charge Veyron money for just the engine and we could bring our own seats!
