Volkswagen's BlueSport Concept Set For 2013 Debut

Volkswagen's BlueSport Concept Set For 2013 Debut
Seen at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, the Volkswagen BlueSport was an instant hit. It had good looks, a fabulous powertrain and a stunning interior.

The only problem has been we've been waiting for something more ever since! Well, it looks like that issue has finally been settled.

According to Autocar, VW has set the BlueSport to arrive at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Volkswagen is on track to provide one of the Abarth sports car’s key rivals in the shape of the BlueSport, due in 2013.

The German manufacturer’s mid-engined roadster is set to arrive at the 2013 Frankfurt show, with sales starting early the following year. Insiders say the car will be close to the concept from Detroit in 2009; that show car was driveable and looked almost ready for market. So expect its two-seat layout and fabric roof to make it onto the final production version...

Make it rear wheel drive, 50/50 balance, light and 200+HP and you have a great alternative to the Miata.

It looks great, and dare I say, some elements of the R8 Spyder is evident.

I actually agree with JUGNU. This is very similar to a vauxhall. Not that that is a bad thing however.

My only thought is this. You make your first exciting convertable sports car in years any you think that silver is the color you should show the vehicle? I mean we realize you are german and like all germans are color blind and therefore every vehicle you create is either a shade of white or black or just the color of plain metal. Except for that one time when BMW went and hired Pablo Picasso to design the outside of the E46 M3 during his "Blue Period".

For god sake, take a note from the italians and pick a new color. I know how about going crazy and showing your debut in...I don't know...Red?! Maybe Yellow (and I don't mean that faded arm pit stain yellow you paint the VW bug) or how about Orange. Heck Volvo did Orange years ago and if the land of the uber safety concious can visualize that color, why can't you? I realize it was a big step to make the top orange, now how about jumping into the pool and actually applying that crazy paint concept to the whole vehicle.

To much, too soon?
