Nice performance clip of the two M models. The performance on these two are simply amazing. 001Buster I agree with some of what you have to say. Audi does make a nice performance car. The most recent RS4 proves that, along with their most recent award winning 2.0 liter direct injection turbo engine. And I think the Audi RS8 Super Car will be amazing. However, I can't recall Audi ever beating BMW in any recent road and track performance comparison. In fact Audi A4 placed 5th behind BMW 3series (1), Lexus IS350 (2), G35 (3), and Acura TL (4). So I'm not sure what you mean by Audi dominating the heck out of BMW. Please elaborate more..

P.S. I also forgot to mention the Audi A8 is a heck of a car. I believe it's the best selling large luxury car in Europe. It looks hot, but the BMW 7 series is more my style. It looks more aggressive and stylish. And with the BMW (Alpina B7) coming to the US. The A8 will not even stand a chance.

Apples and Oranges...they are both fruit but some like apples better then oranges. It mostly preference and I think both Audi and BMW have solid interiors. I had enough of the 4 door sports car! Give me a 2 door with 6 on the floor. No SMG or any kind of manumatic in a high BHP auto.

I presonally would take the M6 over any current Audi...Dayum!

I'm sure there are plenty of people that would love to have an M5 or M6. 001Buster - Everyone can see through your illogical one sided anti-BMW thoughts. You can post a negative M5 or M6 article, but the problem is, for every 1 negative M5/M6 article, you'll find 20 positive ones. So what's your point? If you're gonna start some debate, at least try to be smart about it. Perhaps you can think of some new methods to convince us and the rest of the world that BMW is the anti-christ. Because thus far, it isn't working. People still buy because BMW makes great cars, not because their marketing/advertising methods turned consumers into zombies and made them walk into their showrooms. Overall, car consumers are pretty smart these days, especially with the wealth of accessible information and all the choices. They know what appeals to them. I also look at Audi to keep progressing with their introductions of great products in the near future. I feel they're moving in the right direction.

If you want to talk about some true brainwashing marketing nonsense, talk about NASCAR. Now that is a true fraudulent brand!

Has anyone realised that racing cars and road cars are not alike?

That the same people who engineered the R8 Le Mans car did not engineer the RS4? Much of the R8 development work was carried out in England.

The same goes for ANY car manufacturer. Victories in motor-sport are to be respected, but they do not offer a clear representation of the brand's road-going lineup.

Although I do not dispute the importance of motor-sport and the 'trickle-down' effect of technology into road cars.

First of all, the Audi R8 and R10 are awesome race cars! I really enjoy seeing them run. I hope they continue to succeed and spawn competition. Successful programs like the R8/R10 will undoubtedly keep everyone on their toes. BMW-Sauber is pretty horrible. Although they are making headway, at least they're not in the bottom of the heap, and a lower tier F1 team. They have the resources, they just need the time to apply them. They are not planning to win this year, but they didn't expect to.

As far as the relation between the M5/M6 V10 and their F1 program. Of course there is some cross technology but I'd say the normal consumer doesn't even know or care if portions of their engines subystems came from an F1 program. After all, its still an engine in a road car. But F1 technology is still a great area to be in for trickling down to road cars. I don't think companies would invest in F1 if they couldn't benefit from it in someway.

It's great to be successful in motorsports, but unfortunately it doesn't necessarily result in consumer sales. I mean do you really think John Doe bought that A8 after he saw the diesel powered R10 win a race over the weekend? I'm sure John Doe bought that A8 because he simply liked the car, the way it looks, the way it drives, etc. So car companies just need to find a good balance between success on the race track and success in the showroom.

Audi is on a great roll. I think they will inch closer and closer to BMW and MB in terms of product and sales. So it depends if BMW and MB continue to strive for excellence and growth. I doubt BMW is planning to stand still. Add the japanese "luxury" brands and we will continue to have great cars, technology and plenty of choices.

I think I've tried to be fair in arguing my points despite being a BMW fan. 001Buster - Your problem is that your so one sided, it makes you look stupid and crazy, seriously. You remind me of times when I'm walking on a big city street and on the street corner I see a man on a milk crate screaming about religion, politics, etc. His argument is so preposterously one-sided and fanatical that everyone just laughs at him and can't actually "hear" his points. Everyone thinks he has a psychological problem. So you might actually have some really good points about these topics, but with your outlandish delivery, it has the opposite effect. Everyone filters your words into a virtual garbage can. Try to have some tact and logic and I bet we would respect your viewpoints, at least I would.
