Working in Asia and seeing how efficient a scooter can be (maneuverability in tight traffic, fuel efficient, easy parking, less prone to theft/vandalism, girlfriend sitting behind you snuggling up to you, etc.), I think it's great. So for those Americans (and I am a US Citizen) who can't think outside of "island America", go abroad and enjoy/learn a little. You may find a lot of enjoyment from doing something that the rest of the world have been doing.
