BMW Confirms Hybrid Supercar Due in 2013

BMW Confirms Hybrid Supercar Due in 2013
It’s official! BMW is planning to put a mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar inspired by the Vision Efficient Dynamics concept into production in just two year’s time.

The firm has begun the expansion of its plant at Leipzig in Germany. The new production line will be geared-up to deal with volume production of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) chassis and body panels, which is what the forthcoming Megacity electric supermini will be made from when production begins in early 2013.

However, the firm is likely to factor in production of the Vision Efficient Dynamics supercar too, as it will utilise CFRP construction in order to keep weight close to the 1,450kg of the concept.

This is going to sick it looks like a competitor for the R8 even though the R8 isnt a Hybrid "YET". I hope they dont change anything about the shape because the way it is now is perfect IMO....even the way doors open is hot. I think I need to start saving for this 1 2 years is around the block

Obviously based on the Efficient Dynamics concept. I hope that BMW keeps the styling wild and unique and doesn't tone it down so as not to offend anyone. Please offend everyone - do something new and different!

but if you take a close look it is based on the outgoing 6 series. you can tell that the other body parts were attached to give it that sports car look

Waiting for someone to rip the tree hugger power plant for a v10 it rightfully deserves.
