Israeli government orders $685,000 armored A8 model for prime minister
The Israeli government wants its prime minister to have a high level of protection and has ordered the $685,000 armored A8 model that’s slated to be the most expensive car to ever be brought into the country.

But because of taxes, the A8 Security is expected to cost much more. Audi launched the A8 Security version of the car sometime in 2007. Based on the A8 L W12 quattro, the A8 features an armored passenger cell made from steel, glass and aramide fabric, which cannot be seen by the naked eye.

Surprised they didn't get a Caddy like Obama's. Lots of American cars in Israel.

"Audi was not building product for the war effort in WWII"

Yes they were. Under the name Horch.

Why does such a topic create such a stir here? Anyone who has ever been to Israel (I have) will find tons of German cars, old and new, down there. The Israelis appreciate German cars as much as anyone else.

I drive German and I am of Jewish heritage. I have no issues driving a German car because I know I am getting a well-engineered and high quality product that's been nicely packaged (designed) as well.

Doesn't matter what it is. It's probably what they could afford. Armored A8 or S-Class Pullman, take your pick. I personally would take an S-Class Pullman.

e Prime Minister's Office told Globes that the security forces chose this vehicle because of its capability to carry the required protection level

this car hits 1 million in Israel with taxes so i don't think it was about cost
