Defunct Toyota F1 Effort Finds New Life As An Engineering Technology Venture
Toyota Motorsport GmbH says it is delighted with the success of its transformation into an engineering business since the company's departure from Formula 1, which was announced a year ago today.

The motorsport facility was not disbanded when Toyota pulled its works team out of F1, and has since diversified into commissions varying from providing a car for Pirelli's F1 tyre development tests, to new electric racing cars and a large number of high-tech projects for the automotive industry.

"This has been a breakthrough year for us," said Jens Marquardt, TMG's general manager business development in the company's annual review.

Actually they hired some of the best minds out there, it would be a pity to waste that know how by closing the doors.

Now if they transfer that technology down to the masses, it could all have been worthwhile.

Transfer what technology? Technology from a loser team? No thanks! They say racing improves the breed. Certainly not the case for Toyboata!

lol, there was technology transfer. How else do you think they made a carbon monocoque vehicle with a sub 5.0l engine weigh in at a whopping 3300lbs? There is a reason why they didn't do so well in f1... just sayin...

This is nice. It'll be even nicer if Toyota returns under the Lexus nameplate and wins the first few races of a future Grand Prix racing season.

Toyota has an amazing racing history, and they were surprisingly successful in the Japanese Super GT races and Rolex 24... too bad all the resources and money for F1 just didn't work out.

Toyboata also have a history of cheating. Can you say WRC, F1, Nascar?

Toyota isn't the only one; I'm just saying because of course, that still doesn't excuse Toyota for what they did.

LF-A is the result of their F1 experience.
